Regulatory T cells (Treg) in broader terms consist of different subsets of T cells that are characterized by their ability to suppress proliferation of conventional effector T cells by various means. To date, three main groups of Treg can de distinguished, mainly by their functional properties (for review see Jonuleit and Schmitt 2003) Briefly, T regulatory (Tr)-1 cells as well as T helper (Th)-3 T cells express common T cell markers such as CD4 and are characterized by secretion of IL-10 and TGF-beta, which provides a means by which proliferation of conventional CD4+ cells is blocked. In contrast, genuine Treg that are characterized by their expression of CD25 block T cell proliferation by an unknown cell-to-cell contact-dependent mechanism. However, there are many overlapping features shared by the different subtypes of regulatory T cell and the common denominator is the production of regulatory cytokines such as IL-10 and TGF-beta.

Background/aims: Human mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSC) are multipotent adult cells commonly used in regenerative medicine as advanced therapy medicinal products. The expansion of these cells in xeno-free supplements is highly encouraged by regulatory agencies due to safety concerns. However, the number of supplements with robust performance and consistency for hMSC expansion are limited.

Hemangiomatous ameloblastoma; A separate entity?".

Semin Diagn Pathol

Dept of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology, King George's Medical University, Lucknow, India. Electronic address:

Ameloblastomas (AM) are locally aggressive tumors, with hemangiomatous ameloblastoma (HA) being a rare subtype characterized by vascular proliferation, predominantly in the stroma but occasionally within the epithelial component. We report a case of a 32-year-old male with recurrent mandibular swelling, histopathologically diagnosed as unicystic HA, showing vascularity in both stroma and odontogenic epithelial islands with GLUT1 positivity in the latter. A review of 31 cases revealed a male predilection, mandibular dominance (89.

Electronic address:

Chinese yam polysaccharide (CYP) is an effective immunostimulant, however, its efficacy in grass carp, an important commercial fish species in Asia, remains untested. Here, our study evaluated the immunostimulatory effects of CYP on IgM B cells in vitro and on humoral immunity and immune defense against Aeromonas hydrophila infection in vivo. In vitro stimulation experiments showed that CYP could induce the secretion of IgM antibodies, because it could stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of head kidney IgM B cells.

Electronic address:

NUT carcinoma is a rare and highly aggressive malignancy, predominantly affecting adolescents and young adults. This tumor demonstrates rapid progression, resistance to conventional anti-cancer treatments, and an extremely poor prognosis. Currently, research on NUT carcinoma is limited, and effective treatment options remain scarce.

Biphasic in vitro oocyte maturation (IVM) can be offered as a patient-friendly alternative to conventional ovarian stimulation in in vitro fertilization (IVF) patients predicted to be hyper-responsive to ovarian stimulation. However, cumulative live birth rates after IVM per cycle are lower than after conventional ovarian stimulation for IVF. In different animal species, supplementation of IVM media with oocyte-secreted factors (OSFs) improves oocyte developmental competence through the expression of pro-ovulatory genes in cumulus cells.
