Reported here is what is believed to be the first case of community-acquired pneumonia caused by a Panton-Valentine leukocidin-producing strain of Staphylococcus aureus in Spain. Although lung infections caused by S. aureus strains carrying this powerful leukocidin gene are associated with necrotizing pneumonia and high mortality, the previously healthy 28-year-old male reported here experienced a good clinical course and recovery. It is thought that the hematogenous origin of the infection, the patient's lack of any previous respiratory viral infection and prompt initiation of therapy may explain the satisfactory evolution in this case.

Maximal standard-of-care (SOC) management could not stop the life-threatening progression of a necrotizing fasciitis induced by Panton-Valentine Leukocidin-producing Methicillin-Resistant (MRSA) in a 12-year-old boy. Multi-route phage therapy was initiated along with antibiotics against and , eventually leading to full recovery with no reported adverse events.

This case report presents a rare occurrence of a single lung abscess caused by Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL)-producing methicillin-resistant (MRSA) in a 38-year-old immunocompetent man. The patient, of Southeast Asian origin, presented with symptoms of fever, chest pain, cough, and shortness of breath following a recent flu-like illness. Imaging indicated a cavitary lung lesion in the left lower lobe, suggestive of a lung abscess.

Athletes are vulnerable to Staphylococcus aureus infections due to skin-to-skin contact and skin abrasions during training and competitions involving sharied sport equipment or toiletries, which promote the spread of the bacteria between athletes and within sport teams. This results not only in higher prevalence of S.aureus carriage among athletes compared to the general population, but also in outbreaks of infections, particularly skin infections, within sports teams.

Background: Infective endocarditis resulting from community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) is a rare, but often fatal heart disorder. Here, we report a case of multidisciplinary treatment for infective endocarditis with systemic multiple abscesses due to Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL) producing CA-MRSA and Candida albicans .

Case Presentation: The patient suffered from infective endocarditis, destructive thyroiditis, hemorrhagic cerebral infarction due to mycotic embolism, lung abscess, multiple skeletal muscle abscess, and disseminate intravascular coagulopathy.

Background: Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL)-producing Staphylococcus aureus (PVL-SA) strains are frequently associated with large, recurring abscesses in otherwise healthy young individuals. The typical clinical presentation and the recommended diagnostic evaluation and treatment are not widely known.
