Obstructive jaundice is an unusual manifestation of non-Hodgkin lymphomas in children. Although surgical drainage is one of the initial treatment choices in some cases, usually lymphomatous masses rapidly response to chemotherapy and jaundice decreases due to regression of the mass, without any surgical procedure. The authors report the case of a 16-year-old girl who presented with biliary obstruction due to a neoplasm involving the duodenum. Histological examination of the specimen, which was taken from the mass by endoscopic biopsy, revealed Burkitt lymphoma infiltrating the duodenum. Chemotherapy including cyclophosphamide was started immediately. In a few days, jaundice decreased rapidly by the shrinkage of the mass. Neither surgery nor percutaneous drainage were needed. In conclusion, biliary tract obstruction due to non-Hodgkin lymphoma can be effectively treated with chemotherapy alone without any surgical procedure.

Background And Aim: Endoscopic biliary drainage with placement of a self-expanding metal stent (SEMS) is the preferred palliative treatment of malignant biliary obstruction. Recent advances in the treatment have prolonged survival, thus, increasing the chance of recurrent biliary obstruction (RBO) after SEMS placement. The aim of this study was to compare different endoscopic approaches in patients with a SEMS and RBO, regarding clinical success and time to RBO.

Gallstone disease during pregnancy, or cholelithiasis, presents significant clinical challenges due to hormonal, anatomical, and metabolic changes. Progesterone therapy, commonly used in pregnancy for uterine bleeding, can exacerbate gallstone risk by reducing gallbladder motility and promoting cholesterol gallstone formation. This case report describes a 29-year-old pregnant woman with no prior gallbladder disease who developed multiple cholesterol gallstones during the third trimester while undergoing progesterone therapy for bleeding associated with a bicornuate uterus.

Objectives: Exploring the role of VDAC1 in hepatocyte apoptosis during acute liver injury induced by obstructive jaundice.
Materials And Methods: Animal and cell models were established to investigate possible mechanisms during acute liver injury induced by OJ. Blood was collected for liver function assessment.

Background: Malignant obstructive jaundice (MOJ) is characterized by the presence of malignant tumors infiltrating or compressing the bile duct, causing poor bile drainage, generalized yellowing, pain, itching, and malaise. MOJ is burdensome for both the society and the families of affected patients and should be taken seriously.
Aim: To evaluate the clinical effect of stent placement during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography for relieving MOJ and the efficacy of percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage in terms of liver function improvement, complication rates, and long-term patient outcomes.

Background: T/histiocyte-rich large B-cell lymphoma (T/HRBCL) is a highly aggressive subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma characterized histologically by the presence of a few neoplastic large B cells amidst an abundant background of reactive T lymphocytes and/or histiocytes. T/HRBCL commonly affects the lymph nodes, followed by extranodal sites, such as the spleen, liver, and bone marrow, with rare occurrences in the gastrointestinal tract. Primary gastrointestinal T/HRBCL lacks specific clinical and endoscopic manifestations, and it is difficult to differentiate from inflammatory diseases, nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma, and other diseases on a histological basis, thereby hindering early diagnosis.
