Machine learning (ML) methods continue to gain traction in hydrological sciences for predicting variables at large scales. Yet, the spatial transferability of these ML methods remains a critical yet underexamined aspect. We present a metamodel approach to obtain large-scale estimates of drain fraction at 10 m spatial resolution, using a ML algorithm (Gradient Boost Decision Tree).

Lymphatic muscle cells (LMCs) within the wall of collecting lymphatic vessels exhibit tonic and autonomous phasic contractions, which drive active lymph transport to maintain tissue-fluid homeostasis and support immune surveillance. Damage to LMCs disrupts lymphatic function and is related to various diseases. Despite their importance, knowledge of the gene transcriptional signatures in LMCs and how they relate to lymphatic function in normal and disease contexts is largely missing.

Ammonia oxidizers are key players in the biogeochemical nitrogen cycle. However, in critical ecological zones such as estuaries, especially those affected by widespread anthropogenic dam control, our understanding of their occurrence, ecological performance, and survival strategies remains elusive. Here, we sampled sediments along the Haihe River-Estuary continuum in China, controlled by the Haihe Tidal Gate, and employed a combination of biochemical and metagenomic approaches to investigate the abundance, activity, and composition of ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA), ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB), and complete ammonia oxidizers (comammox).

Background And Aims: Adequacy of Anaesthesia (AoA) and CONOX are combined monitors that assess levels of anaesthesia and analgesia and give a comprehensive score. No studies have measured and compared the total consumption of inhaled anaesthetic agents while using these monitors. We designed a study to compare AoA and CONOX in terms of sevoflurane usage, fentanyl usage and recovery from the effects of anaesthesia.
