Objective: To find the optimal therapeutic program for treatment of acute idiopathetic facial paralysis.

Methods: Four hundred and seventy-seven cases were randomly divided into acupuncture group (group A) treated by routine point multiple needle shallow needling, electroacupuncture group (group B) treated by routine point plus electroacupuncture, drug group (group C), acupuncture plus drug group (group D), and electroacupuncture plus drug group (group E). After treatment of 40 sessions, their therapeutic effects were compared.

Results: The effective rate was 84.0%, 57.1%, 60.6%, 95.8% and 73.5% in the 5 groups respectively; the effective rate in the group D was the best with a very significant difference as compared with other groups (P < 0.01); and there were very significant differences in the therapeutic effect as the group A compared with the group B and C (both P < 0.01).

Conclusion: Acupuncture combined with drug is the best program for treatment of acute idiopathetic facial paralysis, and the multiple needle shallow needling is better than electroacupuncture or simple medication.

Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Weill Institute for Neurosciences, University of California-San Francisco, School of Medicine, San Francisco, California 675 18th Street, San Francisco, CA 94107.

Background: People with schizophrenia spectrum disorders are at elevated risk of HIV, and people with both HIV and schizophrenia are at elevated risk of death compared to individuals with either diagnosis alone. Limited research has assessed the HIV care cascade, and in particular retention in care, among people with HIV (PWH) and schizophrenia in the U.S.

CD8+ T cells are critical for immune protection against severe COVID-19 during acute infection with SARS-CoV-2. However, the induction of antiviral CD8+ T cell responses varies substantially among infected people, and a better understanding of the mechanisms that underlie such immune heterogeneity is required for pandemic preparedness and risk stratification. In this study, we analyzed SARS-CoV-2-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses in relation to age, clinical status, and inflammation among patients infected primarily during the initial wave of the pandemic in France or Japan.

Objective: This study aims to explore the role of exosome-related genes in breast cancer (BRCA) metastasis by integrating RNA-seq and single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) data from BRCA samples and to develop a reliable prognostic model.

Methods: Initially, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on exosome-related genes from the BRCA cohort in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Three prognostic genes (JUP, CAPZA1 and ARVCF) were identified through univariate Cox regression and Lasso-Cox regression analyses, and a metastasis-related risk score model was established based on these genes.

Background: Efficient emergency patient transport systems, which are crucial for delivering timely medical care to individuals in critical situations, face certain challenges. To address this, CONNECT-AI (CONnected Network for EMS Comprehensive Technical-Support using Artificial Intelligence), a novel digital platform, was introduced. This artificial intelligence (AI)-based network provides comprehensive technical support for the real-time sharing of medical information at the prehospital stage.
