This study aimed to investigate the potential hypoglycemic mechanism of red ginseng acidic polysaccharides (RGAP) from the perspective of fatty acid (FA) regulation. A high-glucose/high-fat diet in conjunction with streptozotocin administration was employed to establish type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) rat models, and their fecal FAs were detected using the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) method. RGAP treatment alleviated the polyphagia, polydipsia, weight loss, and hyperglycemia observed in T2DM rats.

Modulating the electronic structure of noble metals via electronic metal-support interaction (EMSI) has been proven effectively for facilitating molecular oxygen activation and catalytic oxidation reactions. Nevertheless, the investigation of the fundamental mechanisms underlying activity enhancement has primarily focused on metal oxides as supports, especially in the catalytic degradation of volatile organic compounds. In this study, a novel Pt catalyst supported on nitrogen-doped carbon encapsulating FeNi alloy, featuring ultrafine Pt nanoparticles, was synthesized.

To improve medical care and rehabilitation algorithms for patients affected by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), it is important to evaluate and summarize the available data on the effect of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on the endocrine system. The purpose of this review was to study the effect of COVID-19 on the endocrine system. The scientific novelty of this study is the evaluation of the effect of coronavirus infection on the endocrine system and the potential effect of hormones on susceptibility to COVID-19.

Recent Advances in Indocyanine Green-Based Probes for Second Near-Infrared Fluorescence Imaging and Therapy.

Research (Wash D C)

January 2025

Research Center for Advanced Detection Materials and Medical Imaging Devices, Institute of Biomedical and Health Engineering, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen 518055, P. R. China.

Fluorescence imaging, a highly sensitive molecular imaging modality, is being increasingly integrated into clinical practice. Imaging within the second near-infrared biological window (NIR-II; 1,000 to 1,700 nm), also referred to as shortwave infrared, has received substantial attention because of its markedly reduced autofluorescence, deeper tissue penetration, and enhanced spatiotemporal resolution as compared to traditional near-infrared (NIR) imaging. Indocyanine green (ICG), a US Food and Drug Administration-approved NIR fluorophore, has long been used in clinical applications, including blood vessel angiography, vascular perfusion monitoring, and tumor detection.

Spatial Accessibility Analysis of Snake Antivenom.

Int J Public Health

January 2025

School of Public Health, Hainan Medical University, Haikou, Hainan Province, China.

Objectives: To analyze the spatial accessibility of antivenom immunizing agents equipped hospitals in Hainan Province.

Methods: This paper analyzes the spatial accessibility of medical institutions equipped with different types of snake antivenom using network analysis and two-step mobile search method, and evaluates the service level and spatial accessibility of medical institutions equipped with different types of antivenom immunizing agents in Hainan Province from the perspectives of both supply and demand.

Results: The number of people in Hainan Province who need to spend more than 1 h to reach an antivenom, antivenom, antivenom, antivenom equipped hospital, and equipped with antivenom for all species of snakes in the country is approximately 856,000, 231,300, 3,071,000, 2,666,000 and 4,721,000 people, respectively.
