Purpose Muscle atrophy progresses with age. The motor function may be estimated by measuring the muscle mass; however, if muscle quality deteriorates due to an increase in connective tissue within the muscle, a decline in motor function may be missed by measuring muscle mass alone. Therefore, it is important to understand the relationship between muscle mass, muscle quality, and motor function.

Objective: No studies have investigated muscle strength and thickness in adolescents with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). We investigated whether there were changes in quadriceps muscle thickness and strength between adolescents with PCOS and controls. Secondly, we evaluated the effects of six months of combined oral contraceptive (COC) treatment on the quadriceps muscle.

Background: Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) is a prevalent condition worldwide, significantly diminishing quality of life and productivity. Except for the alignment change, muscle activation patterns (MAP) have garnered increasing attention as another crucial factor contributing to KOA.
Objective: This study explores the factors, characteristics, and effects of MAP changes caused by KOA, providing a neuromuscular-based causal analysis for the rehabilitation treatment of KOA.

Introduction: Inter-set rest intervals are essential to reduce muscle fatigue and increase the total amount of volume of resistance training. Static stretching and walking may increase muscle blood flow and promote recovery during inter-set rest intervals. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 20 seconds of static stretching and walking during inter-set rest intervals of leg extension exercises on the number of repetitions to exhaustion, total amount of volume, and flexibility of the quadriceps (joint range of motion and muscle hardness) in untrained healthy males.
