Objective: To evaluate the wound healing of recipient and donor sites following keratinized mucosa augmentation (KMA) around implants in reconstructed jaw areas and to compare these outcomes with gingival grafts in native jawbone, so as to provide clinical guidance for postoperative maintenance, and to investigate the impact of clinical experience on the evaluation of KMA postoperative healing through subgroup comparisons.

Methods: This study included patients who underwent resection of maxillofacial tumors, fibular or iliac flap reconstruction, and implant placement at Peking University Dental Hospital from October 2020 to April 2023. Three months post-implant placement, the patients were referred for KMA procedures.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to systematically compare and assess the effect of various wound closure interventions on the clinical outcomes following immediate implant placement (IIP) in the esthetic zone.

Data: Studies comparing the clinical effect of different interventions in the process of wound closure in IIP were included.

Sources: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP), and Wanfang Database.

Co-occurrence of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1 and glomerulosclerosis in a patient with a de novo INF2 variant.

BMC Nephrol

November 2024

Department of Nephrology (Key Laboratory of Management of Kidney Disease in Zhejiang Province), Hangzhou TCM Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Tiyuchang Road 453, Hangzhou, 310007, People's Republic of China.

Background: Renal disease is associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a common inherited neurological disorder. Three forms of CMT have been identified: CMT1 of the demyelinating type, CMT2 of the axonal defect type, and intermediate type (Int-CMT). INF2 is an important target for variants that cause the complex symptoms of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and CMT.

Computational Analysis of Amine Functionalization in Zwitterionized Polyether Sulfone Dialysis Membranes.

Membranes (Basel)

October 2024

Division of Biomedical Engineering, University of Saskatchewan, 57 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 5A9, Canada.

Hemodialysis is a critical treatment for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) who lack kidney transplant options. The compatibility of hemodialysis membranes is vital, as incompatibility can trigger inflammation, coagulation, and immune responses, potentially increasing morbidity and mortality among patients with ESRD. This study employed molecular dynamics simulation (MDS) and molecular docking to assess the hemocompatible properties of Polyether Sulfone (PES) membranes modified via two distinct amine functionalization techniques.
