AI Article Synopsis

  • The study examined how progesterone particles behave in water mixed with D-glucose and urea at low concentrations (0.1 to 1 mM).
  • Zeta potentials, which indicate the electrical charge at the particle interface, were measured to understand the interactions better.
  • The results were explained using the theory of the electrical double layer, showing how concentration affects the zeta potentials.

Article Abstract

Electrophoretic mobilities of progesterone particles dispersed in aqueous solutions of D-glucose and urea (concentration range 0.1 to 1 mM) have been measured in order to investigate the electrical properties of the interface. Zeta potentials have been determined for this purpose. The dependence of Zeta potentials on concentration has also been examined. Theory of the electrical double layer has been used to explain the results.

Breast cancer is a global health issue that, when in the metastasis stage, is characterized by the lack of estrogen receptor-α, the progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth receptor expressions. The present study analyzed the differential gene expression related to the immune system affected by ionizing radiation and estrogen in cell lines derived from an experimental breast cancer model that was previously developed; where the immortalized human breast epithelial cell line MCF-10F, a triple-negative breast cancer cell line, was exposed to low doses of high linear energy transfer α particle radiation (150 keV/μm), it subsequently grew in the presence or absence of 17β-estradiol. Results indicated that interferon-related developmental regulator 1 gene expression was affected in the estrogen-treated cell line; this interferon, as well as the Interferon-Induced Transmembrane protein 2, and the TNF alpha-induced Protein 6 gene expression levels were higher than the control in the Alpha3 cell line.

Global warming is seriously threatening sheep farmings by increasing health problems and decreasing reproductive efficiency. In this study, pomegranate peels ethanolic extract (Ppee), rich in phenolic acids, was prepared in free (Fppee) and nanoemulsified (Nppee, with 18.49 nm-21.

The leading cause of cancer-related death among female patients is breast cancer. Among all the types of breast cancer, triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most dangerous molecular subtype of breast cancer characterized by the absence of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) expression. Since there is no particular therapeutic strategy for TNBC that has been shown to worsen the disease prognosis, 3D models are superior to 2D models as a predictive tool for drug discovery because they more accurately reflect the in vivo biological components of humans.

Abiraterone acetate (AbA) is a progesterone derivative indicated for the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer. This BCS (Biopharmaceutics Classification System) Class IV molecule has an extremely poor oral bioavailability (<10 %), notably due to its very low water solubility and intestinal permeability. Among the few existing galenic strategies to improve AbA's oral bioavailability, lipid nanoparticles such as Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLN) and Nanostructured Lipid Carriers (NLC) are relevant nanovectors.

Mifepristone, a progesterone receptor antagonist, was initially used to terminate early pregnancy. As scientific research advanced, it emerged to be effective in the treatment of various tumors and tumor-like conditions such as endometriosis. Despite the therapeutic potential of mifepristone, its therapeutic effect is still far from ideal because the drug is difficult to dissolve and to accumulate in the target tissue sites.
