Matrix clusters and their alkali metal ion adducts suppress peptide signals in the 500-1400 Da range and compromise MALDI-TOF mass spectrometric peptide mass fingerprinting and protein identification. Addition of 7 mM nitrilotriacetic acid to the matrix solution significantly reduced matrix clusters and increased signal-to-noise ratio of peptide signals approximately 5 to 20-fold. As a result, reliability in the identification of femtomole amounts of proteins based on peptide mass fingerprinting and database search was significantly enhanced, leading to a higher score and sequence coverage.

Danio rerio, commonly known as zebrafish, is an established model organism for the developmental and cell biology studies. Although significant progress has been made in the analysis of the D. rerio genome, cytogenetic studies face challenges due to the unclear identification of chromosomes.

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are a group of organic chemical compounds. Contradictory results have emerged in epidemiological studies attempting to elucidate their relationship with breast cancer risk. This study explored the relationship between dietary exposures to multiple POPs and ER-positive breast cancer risk in the French E3N cohort study, using three different approaches to handle multicollinearity among exposures.

This paper presents a review of the potential role of the endoplasmic reticulum/Golgi complex and intracellular vesicles in mediating events leading to or associated with vertebrate tissue mineralization. The possible importance of these organelles in this process is suggested by observations that calcium ions accumulate in the tubules and lacunae of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi. Similar levels of calcium ions (approaching millimolar) are present in vesicles derived from endosomes, lysosomes and autophagosomes.

Lung nodule appearance may provide prognostic information, as the presence of spiculation increases the suspicion of a nodule being cancerous. Spiculations can be quantified using morphological radiomics features extracted from CT images. Radiomics features can be affected by the acquisition parameters and scanner technologies; thus, it is essential to identify imaging conditions that provide reliable measurements, particularly for emerging technologies like photon-counting CT.
