AI Article Synopsis

  • - The study evaluated the success of thawing human embryos that had been frozen using a vitrification method, involving 957 embryos from 219 patients between Jan 2003 and Jun 2005.
  • - Out of the thawed embryos, 72.2% survived, leading to a clinical pregnancy rate of 19.7%, resulting in the birth of 22 healthy babies across 16 deliveries.
  • - The findings suggest that vitrification is an effective, convenient, and cost-efficient method for cryopreserving human embryos.

Article Abstract

Objective: To assess the outcome of thawing human cleaved embryos from cryopreservation by vitrification.

Methods: A total of 957 day 2 or day 3 embryos from 219 patients were thawed after vitrification with ethylene glycol 5.5 solution and 0.25 ml straw between Jan 2003 and Jun 2005, 514 embryos were recovered and transferred in 178 patients.

Results: The survival rate of thawing embryos and the clinical pregnancy rate after transfer was 72.2% and 19.7% respectively. Twenty-two healthy babies were born from 16 deliveries, including 12 girls and 10 boys, 6 pregnancies ended in miscarriage and another 13 are ongoing.

Conclusion: Vitrification method is an alternative for cryopreservation of human cleaved embryos because of high effectiveness, convenience and good cost efficiency.

Precisely regulated spermatocyte growth, differentiation, and apoptosis are crucial for sustainable male fertility. miR-143 has been demonstrated to regulate gene expression and cell apoptosis in various human cancers. However, the function of mmu-mir-143 (miR-143) in mammalian testes and its underlying mechanism remains unexplored.

The prevalent tumor-supporting glioblastoma-associated macrophages (GAMs) promote glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) progression and resistance to multiple therapies. Repolarizing GAMs from tumor-supporting to tumor-inhibiting phenotype may troubleshoot. However, sufficient accumulation of drugs at the GBM site is restricted by blood-brain barrier (BBB).

Chondroitin sulphate (CS) is a sulphated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) polysaccharide found on proteoglycans (CSPGs) in extracellular and pericellular matrices. Chondroitinase ABC (CSase ABC) derived from Proteus vulgaris is an enzyme that has gained attention for the capacity to cleave chondroitin sulphate (CS) glycosaminoglycans (GAG) from various proteoglycans such as Aggrecan, Neurocan, Decorin etc. The substrate specificity of CSase ABC is well-known for targeting various structural motifs of CS chains and has gained popularity in the field of neuro-regeneration by selective degradation of CS GAG chains.

Bazhen Decoction (Eight Treasures Decoction) has demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC), yet the active ingredients in it and the mechanisms underlying their anti-cancer properties are not well understood. Through network pharmacology, the effective components of Bazhen Decoction against CRC and their corresponding key genes were delineated. Molecular docking was executed to identify the active component targeting the key gene CXCL8, which led to the discovery of Quercetin.
