Objective: To analyze the complications in a series of patients operated on for lumbar disc herniations between 1997 and 2002.
Methods: The records of 64 patients with the diagnosis of lumbar radicular compression by disc herniation who underwent 73 surgical procedures were analyzed. The patients with radicular pain without disc herniation were excluded.
Results: Complications occurring in 7 cases (9.6 %) were 2 deep infections, 1 dural tear which was repaired, 2 cerebrospinal fluid fistulae, 1 pseudomeningocele and 1 lesion of L5 root.
Conclusions: - The most frequent complications were dural tear and infection. These observations are similar to those reported in previously published papers.

Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Objectives: To explore the correlation between Facet Tropism (FT) and OPLL in cervical spine.
Methods: One-hundred patients with OPLL of cervical spine and one-hundred normal participants without OPLL or cervical disc herniation were included in this study, the patients were matched to the normal participants respectively based on the same sex and similar age (±5).

Unlabelled: Due to the increasing number of people working at computers in professional settings, the incidence of lumbar disc herniation is increasing.
Background/objectives: The early diagnosis and treatment of lumbar disc herniation is much more likely to yield favorable results, allowing the hernia to be treated before it develops further. The aim of this study was to classify lumbar disc herniations in a computer-aided, fully automated manner using magnetic resonance images (MRIs).

Intradural lumbar disc herniation (ILDH) is a very rare condition, with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage as a postoperative complication. The central canal of the conus medullaris was reported to communicate with the subarachnoid space through a caudal aperture; however, this aperture has never been observed in vivo. Herein, we report a case of L1/2 ILDH with postoperative spinal adhesive arachnoiditis and syringomyelia in which the communication considered to be a caudal aperture was detected.
