The ability of mifepristone to delay ovulation is thought to be based on the antigonadotropic effects of the drug. In the current work, late-follicular phase administration of mifepristone resulted in decrease in both circulating FSH and inhibin B, suggesting both central and ovarian sites of action.

Neurons communicate through neurotransmission at highly specialized junctions called synapses. Each neuron forms numerous synaptic connections, consisting of presynaptic and postsynaptic terminals. Upon the arrival of an action potential, neurotransmitters are released from the presynaptic site and diffuse across the synaptic cleft to bind specialized receptors at the postsynaptic terminal.

Insulin bound with ligand molecules can improve its bioavailability in oral formulations. In this work, the interactions between insulin and bile acids of taurocholic acid (TCA) and glycocholic acid (GCA) are characterized using different mass spectrometry (MS) methods. Electrospray (ESI)-MS analysis revealed that GCA and TCA could interact with insulin individually or together through non-covalent bonds, and the products included mGCA-insulin, nTCA-insulin, and mGCA-nTCA-insulin complexes.

The somato-cognitive action network (SCAN) consists of three nodes interspersed within Penfield's motor effector regions. The configuration of the somato-cognitive action network nodes resembles the one of the 'plis de passage' of the central sulcus: small gyri bridging the precentral and postcentral gyri. Thus, we hypothesize that these may provide a structural substrate of the somato-cognitive action network.

Abundant repressor binding sites in human enhancers are associated with the fine-tuning of gene regulation.

The regulation of gene expression relies on the coordinated action of transcription factors (TFs) at enhancers, including both activator and repressor TFs. We employed deep learning (DL) to dissect HepG2 enhancers into positive (PAR), negative (NAR), and neutral activity regions. Sharpr-MPRA and STARR-seq highlight the dichotomy impact of NARs and PARs on modulating and catalyzing the activity of enhancers, respectively.
