Objective: To study and investigate branching patterns of the canine coronary arteries and collateral circulation by use of corrosion casting techniques.
Sample Population: 31 hearts obtained from cadavers of clinically normal dogs of various ages and breeds and of either sex.
Procedure: 3-dimensional reproduction of coronary arteries was achieved by postmortem injection and perfusion with casting materials into the aortic sinus via the ascending aorta. Perfused hearts were macerated and carefully irrigated; the air-dried specimens were examined macroscopically and with a magnifying headset.
Results: Collateral arteries and inter- and intra-arterial anastomoses were successfully detected in 8 corrosion cast specimens. In total, 9 coronary collateral arteries and 3 interarterial anastomoses were found.
Conclusions And Clinical Relevance: Our finding of coronary collateral arteries in canine hearts is in agreement with recent findings in coronary flow study. On the basis of our results, vasodilation treatment to improve collateral vessel remodeling in dogs with myocardial dysfunction may be warranted.

Background: The fluorescent dye indocyanine green (ICG) has been used to identify anatomical structures intraoperatively in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using ICG to assess graft patency and territorial distribution of myocardial reperfusion during CABG.
Methods: Porcine arrested hearts (n = 18) were used to evaluate territorial distribution of native coronary arteries and of a coronary bypass constructed with porcine saphenous vein graft (SVG) using ICG.

Background: Contrary to the common belief, the most commonly used laboratory C57BL/6J mouse inbred strain presents a distinctive genetic and phenotypic variability, and for several traits, the genotype-phenotype link remains still unknown. Recently, we characterized the most important stroke survival factor such as brain collateral plasticity in 2 brain ischemia C57BL/6J mouse models (bilateral common carotid artery stenosis and middle cerebral artery occlusion) and observed a Mendelian-like fashion of inheritance of the posterior communicating artery (PcomA) patency. Interestingly, a copy number variant (CNV) spanning locus was reported to segregate in an analogous Mendelian-like pattern in the C57BL/6J colonies of the Jackson Laboratory.

Objectives: Mixed reality (MixR) is an innovative visualization tool that presents virtual elements in a real-world environment, enabling real-time interaction between the user and the combined digital/physical reality. We aimed to explore the feasibility of MixR in enhancing preoperative planning and intraoperative guidance for the correction of various complex congenital heart defects (CHDs).
Methods: Patients underwent cardiac computed tomography or cardiac magnetic resonance and segmentation of digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) images was performed.

Objective: To study the effect of heart-collateral-based enlightenment words intervention on anxiety and depression in patients following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Methods: In this class experimental study, one hundred patients who were hospitalized after PCI from May 2020 to October 2021, were included in this interventional study. They were divided into the test group (n = 50) and the control group (n = 50) based on the random number table.

In patients with Leriche syndrome and coronary artery disease, the operative strategy is very important because the internal thoracic artery (ITA) often provides important collateral blood flow to the lower extremities. A 65-year-old man with diabetes mellitus was admitted with heart failure and bilateral claudication. We successfully performed endovascular therapy(EVT) for aortoiliac occlusive disease, followed by minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting(MICS-CABG) for ischaemic heart disease.
