Much research has noted people's tendency toward extremity. This work has made it clear that some people prefer to hold extreme views and might leave the impression that when biases and preferences occur, they primarily favor extremity. In contrast, in the present work, we examine the possibility that some people prefer attitudinal neutrality across two pretesting samples, three main studies, and two supplementary studies ( = 1,873).

Approximately 80 million US adults-one in four-are infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV), which causes cancers of the cervix in women, cancers of the anus, penis, and throat in men, and genital warts in both sexes. Although HPV vaccinations are safe, effective, easily affordable, and readily available, a substantial percentage of parents resist recommendations to vaccinate their children against HPV. The current study tests the effects of different vaccination advocacy message strategies on attitudes toward HPV vaccination.

This hyperscanning study explored the electrophysiological (EEG) patterns of dyads during a naturalistic persuasive interaction, in which the persuader had to convince the receiver that choosing a group solution was the most effective way to solve a group hypothetical everyday situation. Fifteen dyads composed of a persuader and a receiver were involved in a persuasive interaction while EEG data were recorded. EEG frequency bands (delta, theta, alpha, beta and gamma bands) were analyzed, first, considering the distinct role of the participants and, second, dividing the dyads according to the perceived effectiveness of persuasion.

Background And Aims: Gambling advertising is nowadays prevalent in multiple jurisdictions and can take multiple forms, such as TV adverts and social media promotions. However, few independently designed interventions for gambling advertising have been empirically tested. We aimed to measure the effectiveness of an inoculative intervention video for gambling advertising, which was developed based on previous interventions for alcohol and tobacco, and which used input from academics and experts by experience.
