Thousands of plants, fungi, and lichen species are traded every year. Although sustainable use is critical for livelihoods and biodiversity conservation, insufficient data prevent detailed sustainability assessments for most species. How can the sustainability of trade in such data-deficient species be enhanced? We considered a country-level example of 300 medicinal and aromatic plant, fungus, and lichen species traded in tens of thousands of tons worth tens of millions of US dollars in and from Nepal annually.

Objective: Optimal perioperative pain management is an essential component of perioperative care for the cardiac surgical patient. This turnkey order set is part of a series created by the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Cardiac Society, first presented at the Annual Meeting of The American Association for Thoracic Surgery in 2023. Several guidelines and expert consensus documents have been published to provide guidance on pain management and opioid reduction in cardiac surgery.

- The study aimed to assess how well dynamic SPECT with quantitative analysis of myocardial blood flow (MBF) and myocardial flow reserve (MFR) can detect coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with new left bundle branch block (LBBB).
- The evaluation involved 174 patients with LBBB, finding SPECT abnormalities in only a small percentage, and highlighting a correlation between reduced MFR and fixed defects, although only a few patients had significant CAD after further examination.
- The conclusion suggests that routine screening for CAD in patients with presumed new LBBB may not be necessary, given the low incidence of actual CAD found.

Importance: Hospital participation in the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement-Advanced (BPCI-A) initiative has been associated with modest savings and stable clinical outcomes overall, but it is unknown whether the program performs differently for medical and surgical or procedural (henceforth, surgical) episodes.
Objective: To assess the association of BPCI-A participation with Medicare spending and clinical outcomes for medical and surgical episodes.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This retrospective difference-in-differences cohort study utilized 100% Medicare fee-for-service inpatient claims for episodes initiated between January 1, 2017, and September 30, 2019, and included 90 days of follow-up.
