SH2 (Src Homology 2) domains play a crucial role in phosphotyrosine-mediated signaling and have emerged as promising drug targets, particularly in cancer therapy. STAT3 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3), which contains an SH2 domain, plays a pivotal role in cancer progression and immune evasion because it facilitates the dimerization of STAT3, which is essential for their activation and subsequent nuclear translocation. SH2 domain-mediated STAT3 inhibition disrupts this binding, reduces phosphorylation of STAT3, and impairs dimerization.

Introduction: In patients with symptomatic, refractory atrial fibrillation the ablate and pace (A&P) strategy (pacemaker implantation followed by atrio-ventricular junction ablation (AVJA)) is superior to medical therapy in improving quality of life and prognosis. Despite its well-proven benefits, this invasive therapeutic option is still underutilized in clinical practice. The choice of pacing modality (right ventricular pacing, biventricular pacing, BVP, or conduction system pacing, CSP) is crucial and can have significant clinical implications.

Fine mapping of the Chilli veinal mottle virus resistance 4 (cvr4) gene in pepper (Capsicum annuum L.).

Theor Appl Genet

January 2025

Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Bioresources, Research Institute of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Plant Genomics and Breeding Institute, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Seoul National University, Seoul, 08826, Republic of Korea.

The single recessive Chilli veinal mottle virus resistance locus, cvr4, was fine-mapped in pepper through bulked segregant RNA sequencing combined with gene silencing analysis. Chilli veinal mottle virus (ChiVMV) is a widespread pathogen affecting the production of peppers (Capsicum annuum L.) in Asia and Africa.

Characterization of a Major Quantitative Trait Locus for the Whiteness of Rice Grain Using Chromosome Segment Substitution Lines.

Plants (Basel)

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Plant Functional Genomics of the Ministry of Education/Zhongshan Biological Breeding Laboratory, Yangzhou University, Yangzhou 225009, China.

The whiteness of rice grains (WRG) is a key indicator of appearance quality, directly impacting its commercial value. The trait is quantitative, influenced by multiple factors, and no specific genes have been cloned to date. In this study, we first examined the correlation between the whiteness of polished rice, cooked rice, and rice flour, finding that the whiteness of rice flour significantly correlated with both polished and cooked rice.

Unlocking Germanium Potential: Stabilization Strategies Through Wet Chemical Functionalization.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Istituto di Scienze e Tecnologie Chimiche "Giulio Natta"-SCITEC-CNR, Via Corti, 20132 Milan, Italy.

Germanium (Ge) has long been recognized for its superior carrier mobility and narrower band gap compared to silicon, making it a promising candidate in microelectronics and optoelectronics. The recent demonstration of good biocompatibility, combined with the ability to selectively functionalize its surface, establishes the way for its use in biosensing and bioimaging. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the most recent advancements in the wet chemical functionalization of germanium surfaces.
