Georgi is a valuable medicinal plant of the family. Its roots have been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (under the name Huang-qin) since antiquity and are nowadays included in Chinese and European Pharmacopoeias. It is abundant in bioactive compounds which constitute up to 20% of dried root mass.

Article Synopsis
  • A new method using elastic lipid nanovesicles (ELNs) loaded with Lantana camara extract is developed to improve the permeation of active compounds through the skin.
  • The study produced 15 different formulations and examined factors like vesicle size, surface characteristics, and the impact on skin permeation using a model resembling human skin (Start-M).
  • Results showed that smaller vesicle sizes (100-200 nm) significantly enhanced the permeation of the extract, and that the optimal surfactant ratio led to over 75% of the extract permeating within 8 hours; the ELN formulation also demonstrated a strong reduction in skin cancer cell viability.
  • Future research should focus on the long-term safety and clinical applications of ELNs

Grouping of chemicals has been proposed as a strategy to speed up the screening and identification of potential substances of concern among the broad chemical universe under REACH. Such grouping is usually based on shared structural features and should only be used for the prioritization objectives. However, additional considerations (as well as structural similarity) are needed, e.

Receptor interacting protein kinase 1 (RIPK1) crucially upregulates necroptosis and is a key driver of inflammation. An effective PET radioligand for imaging brain RIPK1 would be useful for further exploring the role of this enzyme in neuroinflammation and for assisting drug discovery. Here, we report our progress on developing a PET radioligand for RIPK1 based on the phenyl-1-dihydropyrazole skeleton of a lead RIPK1 inhibitor, GSK'963.

Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) are a candidate for green energy sources due to microbes' ability to generate charge in their metabolic processes. The main problem in MFCs is slow charge transfer between microorganisms and electrodes. Several methods to improve charge transfer have been used until now: modification of microorganisms by conductive polymers, use of lipophilic mediators, and conductive nanomaterials.
