Accurate mass analysis of phosphoramidites by electrospray mass spectrometry.

Nucleosides Nucleotides Nucleic Acids

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Colorado at Boulder, Boulder, Colorado, USA.

Published: December 2005

A method of accurate mass determination of phosphoramidites is described. The commonly used methanol/water/acid system was replaced by LiCl-containing acetonitrile and the concentrations of LiCl, poly(ethylene glycol), and phosphoramidite samples were optimized.

Plant lipids are a diverse group of biomolecules that play essential roles in plant architecture, physiology, and signaling. To advance our understanding of plant biology and facilitate innovations in plant-based product development, we must have precise methods for the comprehensive analysis of plant lipids. Here, we present a comprehensive overview of current research investigating plant lipids, including their structures, metabolism, and functions.

Rapid and accurate methods for tracing and identifying the origin of lamb are crucial for ensuring food authenticity and quality. This study developed a precise traceability method to determine the origin of lamb by integrating rapid evaporative ionization mass spectrometry (REIMS) with multivariate statistical analysis. Lamb samples from Xilin Gol, Ordos, and Hulun Buir ranches were identified by REIMS fingerprinting within 1 min.

2-Methoxyestradiol (2ME) is involved in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia and antitumor activity. In addition to its low concentration in healthy human serum, presence of isomers makes quantification of 2ME for clinical research and laboratory medicine difficult. The objective of this study was to develop a highly sensitive and accurate method for quantifying 2ME using LC-MS/MS combined with derivatization with 1-(2,4-dinitro-5-fluorophenyl)-4,4-dimethylpiperazinium iodide (MPDNP-F).

Ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors (SCST) are a rare subset of ovarian neoplasms originating from supportive tissues surrounding oocytes. Despite their rarity, prompt diagnosis and management are crucial due to their potential for diverse clinical presentations and the need to optimize patient outcomes. A 25-year-old female patient was initially diagnosed with pyelonephritis but later discovered to have a large right adnexal mass suspected to be a tubo-ovarian abscess.

Introduction: Corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH)-stimulated bilateral inferior petrosal sinus sampling (BIPSS) is the most accurate procedure in the differential diagnosis of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-dependent Cushing's syndrome (CS) with a sensitivity of 88-100% and a specificity of 67-100%. However, CRH is not available globally currently. We undertook this study of BIPSS using lysine vasopressin (LVP) as an agent to stimulate the release of ACTH from corticotrophs.
