In mouse melanocytes, myosin Va is recruited onto the surface of melanosomes by a receptor complex containing Rab27a that is present in the melanosome membrane and melanophilin (Mlp), which links myosin Va to Rab27a. In this study, we show that Mlp is also a microtubule plus end-tracking protein or +TIP. Moreover, myosin Va tracks the plus end in a Mlp-dependent manner. Data showing that overexpression and short inhibitory RNA knockdown of the +TIP EB1 have opposite effects on Mlp-microtubule interaction, that Mlp interacts directly with EB1, and that deletion from Mlp of a region similar to one in the adenomatous polyposis coli protein involved in EB1 binding blocks Mlp's ability to plus end track argue that Mlp tracks the plus end indirectly [corrected] by hitchhiking on EB1. These results identify a novel +TIP and indicate that vertebrate cells possess a +TIP complex that is similar to the Myo2p-Kar9p-Bim1p complex in yeast. We suggest that the +TIP complex identified in this study may serve to focus the transfer of melanosomes from microtubules to actin at the microtubule plus end.

A reasonable construction of hollow structures to obtain high-performance absorbers is widely studied, but it is still a challenge to select suitable materials to improve the low-frequency attenuation performance. Here, the FeO@C@NiO nanoprisms with unique tip shapes, asymmetric multi-path hollow cavity, and core-shell heteroepitaxy structure are designed and synthesized based on anisotropy and intrinsic physical characteristics. Impressively, by changing the load of NiO, the composites achieve strong absorption, broadband, low-frequency absorption: the reflection loss of -55.

This study explores the preparation of lubricating oleo-dispersions using electrospun nanofibrous mats made from low-sulfonate lignin (LSL) and polycaprolactone (PCL). The rheological and tribological properties of the oleo-dispersions were significantly modulated for the first time through the exploration of LSL/PCL ratio and electrospinning conditions such as applied voltage, distance between the tip and collector, flow rate, ambient humidity, and collector configuration. Adequate uniform ultrathin fibers and Small-amplitude oscillatory shear (SAOS) functions of the oleo-dispersions, with storage modulus values ranging from 10 to 10 Pa at 25 °C, were obtained with a flow rate of 0.

Offshore low-permeability reservoirs are mainly composed of complex fault-block structures with poor physical properties, which makes establishing an effective displacement relationship particularly challenging. Hydraulic fracturing assisted oil displacement (HFAD) can effectively increase the oil production of a single well by creating fractures to replenish the producing energy. In this study, the Khristianovich-Geertsma-de Klerk (KGD) model is used to calculate the propagation of vertical fractures, and the flow tube method is used to calculate the two-phase oil-water flow in filtration and seepage.

Mining electric shovels are one of the core equipments for open-pit mining, and are currently moving towards intelligent and unmanned transformation, with intelligent mining instead of traditional manual operation. In the excavation operation process, due to the complexity and changeability of the material surfaces, different excavation strategies should be adopted to achieve the optimal excavation trajectory. It is an important research direction to realize the unmanned excavation of electric shovels by studying a trajectory planning method that is not limited to fixed resting angle surface, can comprehensively consider the type of material surfaces and aim at the minimum excavation energy consumption per unit volume.

The radioactive isotope of hydrogen, known as tritium (H), is very often used as a dating tool in hydrogeological studies, since it enters the water cycle as part of the water molecule through precipitation. However, the assessment of groundwater transit times and recharge often requires knowing the local historical records of tritium levels in precipitation during the previous seven decades, or the tritium in precipitation (TIP) time series. Here, we compiled all tritium records in precipitation in Greece, with the majority of stations showing sporadic measurements, with the aim of reconstructing a TIP for groundwater dating purposes.
