The goal of our work was a role of phosphorylase (EC. 2.4.1.1) in starch accumulation in plastids of storage parenchyma cells in potato minitubers forming under clinorotation. An increased enzyme activity under the influence of simulated microgravity has been revealed by using the biochemical and electron cytochemical methods. The obtained results suggest the correlation between an increase in phosphorylase activity and acceleration growth rate and senescence of plant storage organs in microgravity.

The plastidial α-glucan phosphorylase (PHS1) can catalyze the elongation and degradation of glucans, but its exact physiological role in plants is not completely deciphered. A plethora of studies have indicated that PHS1 is involved in transitory starch turnover, both in photosynthetic tissues as well as reserve starch accumulation in sink organs of multiple species, by exerting its effects on the plastidial maltodextrin pools. Recent studies have also established its role in the mobilization of short maltooligosaccharides (MOSs), thereby assisting in starch granule initiation.

Salt stress is an important factor affecting the growth and development of rice, and prohexadione calcium (Pro-Ca) plays an important role in alleviating rice salt stress and improving rice yield. However, there are few studies on how Pro-Ca improves rice yield under salt stress by regulating the source-sink metabolism. In this study, we used Guanghong 3 (salt-tolerant variety) and Huanghuazhan (salt-sensitive variety) as experimental materials to investigate the dynamic changes in the synthesis and partitioning of nonstructural carbohydrates among source-sink, the dynamic changes in related enzyme activities, the effects of the source-sink metabolism on yield in rice under salt stress and the effect of Pro-Ca during the filling period.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a highly malignant tumor characterized by a significant propensity for recurrence and metastasis. DNA methylation has emerged as a critical epigenetic mechanism with substantial utility in cancer diagnosis. In this study, multi-omics data were utilized to investigate the target genes regulated by the transcription factor MYC-associated zinc finger protein (MAZ) in ccRCC, leading to the identification of thymidine phosphorylase (TYMP) as a gene with notably elevated expression in ccRCC.

Light plays an important role in determining the l-ascorbate (AsA) pool size in plants, primarily through the transcriptional regulation of AsA metabolism-related genes. However, the specific mechanism of transcriptional induction responsible for light-dependent AsA biosynthesis remains unclear. In this study, we used a promoter sequence containing light-responsive motifs from GDP-L-galactose phosphorylase 2 (RrGGP2), a key gene involved in AsA overproduction in Rosa roxburghii fruits, to identify participating transcription factors.

: We aimed to assess the relationship among circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs), hypoxia-related proteins, and the conventional risk factors of life-threatening coronary artery disease (CAD) to find more precise novel biomarkers. : Patients were categorized based on coronary CT angiography. Patients with a Segment Involvement Score > 5 were identified as CAD patients.
