[reaction: see text] Silver salts in the presence of a chelating ligand efficiently catalyze the stereospecific imination of sulfoxides and sulfides with sulfonylamides and PhI(OAc)(2) to afford sulfoximines and sulfilimines, respectively, in good yields.

In this study, four novels 2,5,6-trisubstituted imidazothiadiazole derivative ligands and their Ag(I) complexes were synthesized and characterized using various spectroscopic analysis techniques. First, imidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole derivative (3) was obtained from the reaction of 5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiol with benzyl bromide in the presence of KOH in an ethanolic medium. In the next step, the resultant compound reacted sequentially with four substituted phenacyl bromide derivatives (4a-4d) under refluxed ethanol for 24 h to obtain substituted 2-(benzylthio)-6-phenylimidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole derivatives (5-8).

Results: Herein, 99 thiochroman-based derivatives containing hydroxyl, sulfoxide, sulfone, carbonyl, double bond, amino, imine, oxime, oxime ester, and amide moieties were synthesized.

Novel geometrically asymmetric biscinnamyl-sulfone compounds (6a-c) with donor-π-conjugated spacer-acceptor functionality were successfully synthesized. This was achieved by coupling cinnamaldehyde precursors with 3,3'-diaminodiphenyl sulfone in dry organic solvents, resulting in high yields. Several spectroscopic techniques were employed to identify the derivatives.

Highly enantioselective Rh-catalyzed allylic substitution of the racemic branched allylic substrates with 2-fluoromalonate was realized enabled by a novel chiral sulfoxide-imine-olefin ligand under mild reaction conditions. The utilization of CuSO is beneficial for improving the enantioselectivity. Notably, the chiral fluoro-containing allyl products can be employed in a selective cyclic esterification to form chiral α-fluorolactone bearing vicinal stereogenic centers.

Metal dipyrrinato complexes of 4d and 5d metals have distinctive features such as high absorption coefficients in the visible section and room temperature phosphorescence in the red region. This work demonstrates the light-assisted oxidation of organic compounds employing rhenium(I)dipyrrinato complexes as catalysts. The heavy atom effect in rhenium(I)dipyrrinato complexes leads to the formation of long-lived triplet excited states, and these complexes can generate singlet oxygen in excellent yields (up to 84 %).
