As suggested by X-ray crystal structures, homologous, long-chain alkyl dendrons with three carboxyl groups form thin films on silver oxide surfaces, which give reflection-absorption infrared spectra that show a linear increase in intensities of methylene C-H stretching absorptions.

Ferroptosis and sonodynamic therapy (SDT) are both promising therapeutic modalities, but their clinical application remains challenging due to the hypoxic tumor microenvironment and limited supply of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Developing an agent with oxygen-enhanced SDT and increased ferroptosis sensitivity is crucial for advancing tumor therapy. In this study, catalase (Cat) and Acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4) highly expressed 4T1 cells were constructed lentivirus transfection.

Regulation mechanism of the long-chain -alkane monooxygenase gene in RAG-1.

Unlabelled: As toxic pollutants, -alkanes are pervasively distributed in most environmental matrices. Although the alkane monooxygenase AlmA plays a critical role in the metabolic pathway of solid long-chain -alkanes (≥C) that are extremely difficult to degrade, the mechanism regulating this process remains unclear. Here, we characterized the function of AlmA in RAG-1, which was mainly involved in the degradation of long-chain -alkanes (C-C), among which, -C induced the promoter activity most.

Microbial biotransformation of trace organic chemicals (TOrCs) is an essential process in wastewater treatment to eliminate environmental pollution. Understanding TOrC biotransformation mechanisms, especially at their original concentrations, is important to optimize treatment performance, whereas our current knowledge is limited. Here, we investigated the biotransformation of seven TOrCs by 24 model communities.

Following regulatory pressure, the manufacture of long-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) has been phased out, and alternatives such as short-chain homologs and ether-PFAS have replaced the bioaccumulative long-chain PFAS. However, data are lacking regarding the toxicokinetic (TK) properties of certain PFAS, particularly emergent substitutes for long-chain compounds. Additionally, the existing analytical methods used for TK studies measure a single compound or only a few simultaneously.

Orm proteins control ceramide synthesis and endocytosis via LCB-mediated Ypk1 regulation.

J Lipid Res

Sphingolipids (SPLs) are major components of cell membranes with significant functions. Their production is a highly-regulated multi-step process with the formation of two major intermediates, long chain bases (LCBs) and ceramides. Homologous Orm proteins in both yeast and mammals negatively regulate LCB production by inhibiting serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT), the first enzyme in SPL de novo synthesis.
