Esophageal squamous papillomatosis is rare and has been associated with gastroesophageal reflux and recurrent respiratory papillomatosis. We report a case of extensive esophageal papillomatosis, no airway involvement and a slowly progressive clinical course with progressive strictures and ultimately fatal squamous cell carcinoma. In-situ hybridization performed on biopsy specimens was negative for high-risk human papilloma virus types. Due to the paucity of reported cases, little is conclusively known about the etiology, natural course and best clinical management of this disease. Human papilloma virus has been linked to some, but not all, cases, and the clinical course has been reported to vary from spontaneous regression to malignant transformation. Surveillance for malignancy by conventional endoscopic biopsies or computed tomography scan appears to have low sensitivity. This case illustrates the difficulties in clinical management and establishing a definite etiology in esophageal squamous papillomatosis.

Background And Purpose: It remains unclear whether the lymph-node ratio (LNR) is a relevant factor for the risk of recurrence following neoadjuvant chemotherapy (nCT) with docetaxel, cisplatin, and 5-fluorouracil (DCF), which is a new standard of care for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in Japan. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical utility of LNR as a risk factor for recurrence.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 75 patients who underwent nCT-DCF followed by curative surgery for resectable ESCC.

Background: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy, particularly the use of platinum-based compounds and taxanes, is pivotal in the treatment of epithelial-derived tumors, such as cervical cancer and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC); however, resistance remains a significant challenge. Utilizing Mendelian randomization (MR) with pharmacogenomics offers a novel approach to understanding the genetic underpinnings of drug responses, thereby aiding in personalized treatment.
Methods: Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis revealed a shared cellular subpopulation of CD8 + T effector memory (CD8 + TEM) cells that are pivotal in mediating chemotherapy resistance in ESCC and cervical cancer.

Purpose Of The Review: This narrative review aims to provide an overview of recently completed randomized trials and expert consensus recommendations, and their implications for clinical practice and future trial design in patients with de-novo esophagogastric oligometastatic disease (OMD).
Recent Findings: The IKF-575/RENAISSANCE phase III trial showed no significant overall survival difference between systemic therapy alone and systemic therapy combined with local therapy for patients with gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer and de-novo OMD, except for patients with retroperitoneal lymph node metastases only. The ESO-Shanghai 13 phase II trial demonstrated superiority of adding local therapy to systemic therapy for progression-free and overall survival in oligometastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

CDKN2A is a tumor suppressor located in chromosome 9p21 and frequently lost in Barrett's esophagus (BE) and esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). How CDKN2A and other 9p21 gene co-deletions affect EAC evolution remains understudied. We explored the effects of 9p21 loss in EACs and cancer progressor and non-progressor BEs with matched genomic, transcriptomic and clinical data.
