Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a frequent complication in critically ill patients, who often have multiple risk factors. Pharmacological thromboprophylaxis is widely applied to lower this risk, but guidelines lack dosing recommendations.
Objective: This survey aims to assess current thromboprophylaxis preferences and willingness to participate in future randomized clinical trials (RCTs) on this topic.

Rationale: Swollen legs are commonly observed in clinical practice, and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is 1 of the causes. Duplicated IVC (DIVC) is a relatively rare anomaly that results in DVT.
Patient Concerns: A 52-year-old male patient presented to the emergency department because of right leg swelling, pain, and redness for 3 days.

Microporous annealed particle (MAP) scaffolds are comprised of hydrogel microparticles with inter- and intra-particle cross-links that provide structure and cell-scale porosity, making them an increasingly attractive option for injectable tissue augmentation. Many current injectable biomaterials create a substantial foreign body response (FBR), while MAP scaffolds mitigate this response and have the potential to facilitate the formation of new tissue, though this de novo tissue formation is poorly understood. Here, we leverage a subcutaneous implant model to explore the maturation of MAP implants with and without heparin microislands (µislands) over one year to identify the effect of bioactive particles on scaffold maturation.

Therapeutic protein delivery has ushered in a promising new generation of disease treatment, garnering more recognition for its clinical potential than ever. However, proteins' limited stability, extremely short average half-lives, and evidenced toxicity following systemic delivery continue to undercut their efficacy. Biomaterial-based protein delivery, however, demonstrates the potential to overcome these obstacles.

Background: Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) is a common, preventable complication in trauma. Low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) is recommended for VTE prophylaxis (VTEp). We investigated whether switching from fixed-dose dalteparin to anti-Xa-guided enoxaparin prophylaxis reduces VTE without increasing the risk of bleeding among hospitalized trauma patients.
