The first actinyl phosphinimine complexes have been synthesized and, in the case of uranium, exhibit strong U-N interactions. Competition reactions clearly demonstrate a surprising preference for R3P=NH ligands over R3P=O in the system [AnO2Cl2(R3PX)2] (An = U(VI), Np(VI); R = Ph, Cy; X = O, NH). Spectroscopic evidence for N-donor coordination to [NpO2]2+ in solution indicates chemical similarities to the [UO2]2+ moiety.

Hairy vetch ( Roth), a leguminous plant with nitrogen-fixing ability, is used as a cover crop and has the potential to suppress weeds and plant diseases. The microbial composition, particularly fungal endophytes, which may be related to the beneficial functions of this crop, has not been previously studied. In this study, we analyzed the diversity and function of culturable fungal endophytes associated with hairy vetch from eight locations across Japan.

Dual Inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 3CL Protease and Human Cathepsin L Containing Glutamine Isosteres Are Anti-CoV-2 Agents.

SARS-CoV-2 3CL protease (Main protease) and human cathepsin L are proteases that play unique roles in the infection of human cells by SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19. Both proteases recognize leucine and other hydrophobic amino acids at the P position of a peptidomimetic inhibitor. At the P position, cathepsin L accepts many amino acid side chains, with a partial preference for phenylalanine, while 3CL-PR protease has a stringent specificity for glutamine or glutamine analogues.

Introduction: Bunge is an important medicinal legume species widely cultivated in northeastern China (NEC) and northwestern China (NWC) and can establish a symbiotic relationship with nitrogen-fixing rhizobial strains. However, there are limited reports comparing the genetic diversity, differentiation, and gene flow of rhizobial strains associated with this plant in different geographic regions.

Methods: We used multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) to investigate the phylogeny and genetic diversity of rhizobia and to estimate their intra- and inter-regional gene flow and genetic differentiation based on the analysis of concatenated core genes (, , and ) and the critical symbiotic gene .

Ice wine is produced from concentrated grape juice obtained by the natural freezing and pressing of grapes. The high sugar content of this juice has an impact on fermentation. To investigate the impact of the initial sugar concentration on the fermentation of ice wine, the initial sugar concentration of Vidal ice grape juice was adjusted to 370, 450, 500 and 550 g/L by the addition of glucose.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) in leptospirosis, a disease not well understood in relation to TLR2 involvement.
  • A systematic review was conducted on various studies with 35 articles selected, analyzing TLR2's expression and its association with immune responses during leptospirosis.
  • Results showed that while TLR2 was more consistently expressed in experiments, human data yielded mixed findings, indicating a need for more research on TLR2's role in human leptospirosis and its interaction with other receptors like TLR4 and TLR5.
