The first magnesium and zinc alkyls derived from N-(iso-propyl)-pyrrolylaldimine have been synthesised and structurally characterised: both tBuM(N,N')-type compounds exist as three-coordinate monomers in benzene solution, but in the solid state the magnesium complex is a centrosymmetric dimer with Mg2(mu-N)2 bridges, whereas the zinc complex is a Zn...pi bonded dimer with a pi-coordinated pyrrole unit.

Protein fibrillation complex mechanisms led to an emerging trend in research for years. The mechanisms behind whey protein isolate (WPI) fibrillation driven by divalent cations remained still a matter of speculation. All cations (Ca, Fe, Mg, and Zn) enhanced the microenvironment polarity through π-π stacking, and the amide I and II shifts confirmed the fibrillation.

Biometallic ions play a crucial role in regulating the immune system. In recent years, cancer immunotherapy has become a breakthrough in cancer treatment, achieving good efficacy in a wide range of cancers with its specificity and durability advantages. However, existing therapies still face challenges, such as immune tolerance and immune escape.

Implanted biomaterials release inorganic ions that trigger inflammatory responses, which recruit immune cells whose biochemical signals affect bone tissue regeneration. In this study, we evaluated how mouse macrophages (RAW264, RAW) and mesenchymal stem cells (KUSA-A1, MSCs) respond to seven types of ions (silicon, calcium, magnesium, zinc, strontium, copper, and cobalt) that reportedly stimulate cells related to bone formation. The collagen synthesis, alkaline phosphatase activity, and osteocalcin production of the MSCs varied by ion dose and type after culture in the secretome of RAW cells.

The aim was to characterize and compare their therapeutic attributes, including antioxidant capacity, antidiabetic, and anti-cholinesterase activities, along with their nutritional compositions, particularly minerals, and protein content. Results revealed significant variations among the genotypes in terms of their therapeutic properties.
