In severely burned children, depending on severity of injury, the anti-triptic activity of blood serum, alpha 2-macroglobulin level, fibronectin, activity of an arginase decrease at the acute period of toxemia and septic toxemia. The content of the products of fibrin-fibrinogen degradation increases considerably. Alteration of the indices studied is of informative value and is associated with dynamics of the toxic syndrome development. Use of donor antiproteic plasma has a positive therapeutic effect.

Volatile oils (VOs), synonymously termed essential oils (EOs), are highly hydrophobic liquids obtained from aromatic plants, containing diverse organic compounds for example terpenes and terpenoids. These oils exhibit significant neuroprotective properties, containing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, glutamate activation, cholinesterase inhibitory action, and anti-protein aggregatory action, making them potential therapeutic agents in managing neurodegenerative diseases (NDs). VOs regulate glutamate activation, enhance synaptic plasticity, and inhibit oxidative stress through the stimulation of antioxidant enzymes.

Massive blood loss is the main cause of prehospital trauma-related death, the development of rapid and effective hemostatic materials is imminent. Injectable hydrogels have the advantages of covering irregular bleeding sites and quickly closing the wound. However, its inherent viscosity can easily precipitate tissue adhesion and other complications.

Circulating histones have been identified as essential mediators that lead to hyperinflammation, platelet aggregation, coagulation cascade activation, endothelial cell injury, multiple organ dysfunction, and death in severe patients with sepsis, multiple trauma, COVID-19, acute liver failure, and pancreatitis. Clinical evidence suggests that plasma levels of circulating histones are positively associated with disease severity and survival in patients with such critical diseases. However, safe and efficient therapeutic strategies targeting circulating histones are lacking in current clinical practice.

Biological fouling seriously jeopardizes the development of the marine industry. Although hydrogels, as a kind of state-of-the-art antifouling material, have received wide attention, their mechanical strength is still relatively weak, and the synergistic antifouling method is comparatively single, thus limiting the performance of hydrogels. Here, a zwitterionic sulfobetaine methacrylate (SBMA)-acrylamide (AM)/sodium alginate (SA) double-network (DN) antifouling hydrogel with superb antifouling ability and outstanding mechanical properties was prepared by grafting MXene/Ag (M/Ag) and the powerful biocide polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB).

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common complication of autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) in women, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Protein disulfide isomerase A3 (PDIA3) is a ubiquitous protein. We have reported that PDIA3 autoantibody (PDIA3Ab) production results from autoimmune responses against thyrocytes, resulting in its high expression in euthyroid AIT patients.
