The anticancer activity of di- and tri-terpenes and other polyphenolic compounds present in tea is already reported. We evaluated the cytotoxic and apoptogenic effect of tea root extract (TRE) and two of its steroidal saponins named as TS1 and TS2, on human cell lines and on cells from leukemic patients. It was found that TRE, TS1 and TS2 significantly decreased cell count and that TRE caused apoptosis, as confirmed morphologically by confocal microscopy and by flow-cytometric analysis using Annexin-V FITC and propidium iodide (PI). Cell count and MTT assay in normal white blood cells (WBC) of healthy volunteers revealed that TRE produced insignificant reduction in cell count and cytotoxicity.

The broiler breeder industry is facing a problem with fertility, hatchability, and the number of broiler breeder eggs produced per hen. The supplementation of trace minerals such as zinc, manganese, and copper in broiler breeder diets has been previously linked to an increase in eggshell quality, which may lead to increased fertility, hatchability, and chick quality. The objective of this study was to explore the effect of amino-acid complexed mineral supplementation on eggshell quality, fertility, hatchability, chick quality, and shell translucency.

This paper examines the quantitative structure-inhibitory activity relationship of 15-lipoxygenase (15-LOX) in sets of 100 homo- and heterocyclic compounds using GUSAR 2019 software. Statistically significant valid models were built to predict the IC50 parameter. A combination of MNA and QNA descriptors with three whole molecular descriptors (topological length, topological volume and lipophilicity) was used to develop 18 statistically significant, valid consensus QSAR models.

The phase transitions in IrTe have been extensively studied but the symmetry at each phase is yet to be settled. Employing second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements over a temperature range of 4 -300 K, we probe the evolution of the symmetry of IrTe. Our results indicate shifts in two distinct transition temperatures (T and T with T > T) through thermal cycling, providing an explanation for the variations of reported values in literature.

This study presents a computational investigation into the mechanistic pathway and the linker units involved in forming the zwitterionic 1,2-anti-addition product of non-conjugated diacetylenes, di(propargyl)ether (DPE), di(prop-2yn-1yl)sulfane (DPS) and 1,6-Heptadiyne (HD) catalyzed by the inter-molecular phosphine/borane frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs), i.e., PPh[CH(CF)](P-CF)/[B(CF)]([B]) and P(o-tolyl)(P-tol)/[B(CF)]([B]).

A bifunctional thiourea-amine-based organocatalyst (Takemoto's catalyst), employing a metal-free approach, is presented for the regioselective ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of optically active (D and L) methyl glycolide (MG). In this study, a chiral version of Takemoto's catalyst efficiently promotes the ROP of MG at room temperature, yielding poly(lactic-co-glycolic acids) (PLGAs) with predicted molecular weights and narrow polydispersity indices (PDI≤1.2).
