Local existence of dynamical and trapping horizons.

Published: September 2005

Given a spacelike foliation of a spacetime and a marginally outer trapped surface S on some initial leaf, we prove that under a suitable stability condition S is contained in "horizon" i.e., a smooth 3-surface foliated by marginally outer trapped slices which lie in the leaves of the given foliation. We also show that under rather weak energy conditions this horizon must be either achronal or spacelike everywhere. Furthermore, we discuss the relation between "bounding" and "stability" properties of marginally outer trapped surfaces.

The Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL), one of the four major ligaments in the knee joint, resides on the outer aspect of the knee. It forms a vital connection between the femur and the fibula. The LCL's primary role is to provide stability against Varus forces, safeguarding the knee from undue rotation and tibial displacement.

Marginally outer trapped tubes in de Sitter spacetime.

We prove two results which are relevant for constructing marginally outer trapped tubes (MOTTs) in de Sitter spacetime. The first one (Theorem 1) holds more generally, namely for spacetimes satisfying the null convergence condition and containing a timelike conformal Killing vector with a "temporal function". We show that all marginally outer trapped surfaces (MOTSs) in such a spacetime are unstable.

Solid Phase Synthesis and TAR RNA-Binding Activity of Nucleopeptides Containing Nucleobases Linked to the Side Chains via 1,4-Linked-1,2,3-triazole.

Nucleopeptides (NPs) represent synthetic polymers created by attaching nucleobases to the side chains of amino acid residues within peptides. These compounds amalgamate the characteristics of peptides and nucleic acids, showcasing a unique ability to recognize RNA structures. In this study, we present the design and synthesis of Fmoc-protected nucleobase amino acids (1,4-TzlNBAs) and a new class of NPs, where canonical nucleobases are affixed to the side chain of -homoalanine (Hal) through a 1,4-linked-1,2,3-triazole (HalTzl).

Purpose: To compare donor-site morbidity for alveolar bone grafting results following cartilage-preserving outer and inner cortico-cancellous iliac crest (OCIC and ICIC) bone block grafting in children.

Materials And Methods: Patients were randomly divided into two groups and prospectively reviewed. In the OCIC and ICIC groups, cortico-cancellous bone blocks were harvested at outer and inner iliac crest respectively.

The investigation of arterial stiffening is a promising approach to estimating cardiovascular risk. Despite the widespread use of different methods, the dynamic nature of measured and calculated stiffness parameters is marginally investigated. We aimed to determine the stability of large artery elasticity parameters assessed via commonly used, ultrasound-based and oscillometric methods in relation to peripheral resistance modulation.
