We present a search for long-lived doubly charged Higgs bosons (H(+/- +/-)), with signatures of high ionization energy loss and muonlike penetration. We use 292 pb(-1) of data collected in pp collisions at sqrt[s] = 1.96 TeV by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. Observing no evidence of long-lived doubly charged particle production, we exclude H(+/- +/-)(L) and H(+/- +/-)(R) bosons with masses below 133 GeV/c(2) and 109 GeV/c(2), respectively. In the degenerate case we exclude H(+/- +/-) mass below 146 GeV/c(2). All limits are quoted at the 95% confidence level.

Kaonic nuclear clusters- a new paradigm of particle and nuclear physics.

Λ = Λ(1405) plays an essential role in the formation of kaonic nuclear clusters (KNC). The simplest KNC, Kpp, has the structure Λp = (Kp)p, in which a real kaon migrates between two nucleons, mediating super-strong Λp attraction. Production data of Kpp have been accumulated by DISTO, J-PARC E27 and J-PARC E15 experiments.

Quadrupole Coupling of Circular Rydberg Qubits to Inner Shell Excitations.

Divalent atoms provide excellent means for advancing control in Rydberg atom-based quantum simulation and computing due to the second optically active valence electron available. Particularly promising in this context are circular Rydberg atoms, for which long-lived ionic core excitations can be exploited without suffering from detrimental autoionization. Here, we report the implementation of electric quadrupole coupling between the metastable 4D_{3/2} level and a very high-n (n=79) circular Rydberg qubit, realized in doubly excited ^{88}Sr atoms prepared from an optical tweezer array.

While azides do not react with simple alkenes except under harsh conditions, a diboron alkene analogue, the doubly cyclic alkyl(amino)carbene (CAAC)-stabilized dicyanodiborene 1, reacts spontaneously with organic azides (7-10 equiv.) at room temperature to yield two equivalents of stable CAAC-imino(cyano)boranes (2-R). NMR-spectroscopic monitoring of the reaction mixtures shows the initial formation of a 1 : 1 mixture of 2-R and a relatively long-lived intermediate (Int), which in the presence of excess azide is converted into a second equivalent of 2-R.

The photoinduced generation of a superoxide anion on the surface of a semiconductor photocatalyst is usually attributed to the reduction of O with conduction-band electrons. In the current work, the reaction of TiO with O giving rise to TiO in superoxide and peroxide states has been investigated with (CAS, CCSD) and DFT (B3LYP) calculations. The ground triplet state and two substates (open-shell singlet (OSS) and closed-shell singlet (CSS)) of a doubly degenerate excited singlet state (Δ) are considered as reactive states of oxygen, participating in spontaneous or photoinduced processes, respectively.

Sulfur-substituted nucleobases are DNA and RNA base derivatives that exhibit extremely efficient photoinduced intersystem crossing (ISC) dynamics into the lowest-energy triplet state. The long-lived and reactive triplet states of sulfur-substituted nucleobases are crucial due to their wide range of potential applications in medicine, structural biology, and the development of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and other emerging technologies. However, a comprehensive understanding of non-negligible wavelength-dependent changes in the internal conversion (IC) and ISC events is still lacking.
