We report a novel enzyme-based microcantilever sensor by using layer-by-layer nanoassembly modification. A glucose oxidase (GOx) functionalized microcantilever underwent bending when it was exposed to glucose solutions. The magnitudes of bending were proportional to the concentrations of glucose. The cantilever bending was specific toward glucose, but not to other sugars such as mannose, fructose, or galactose. The flow rate effect on the cantilever bending response is also discussed. The bending mechanism was investigated, and the kinetic and thermodynamic analysis and experimental results showed that the conformational change of GOx and gluconic formation were the origin of cantilever deflection.

Macrophages have emerged as promising cellular vehicles for the delivery of therapeutic agents to tumor sites. However, the cytotoxicity of therapeutic agents toward the cellular carriers and the effective release of therapeutic agents at the tumor site remain the main challenges faced by macrophage-mediated drug delivery systems. Herein, a near-infrared (NIR)-triggered release of self-accelerating cascade nanoreactor (HCFG) delivered by macrophages (HCFG@R) was developed for synergistic tumor photothermal therapy (PTT)/starvation therapy (ST)/chemodynamic therapy (CDT).

Microalbuminuria is the earliest clinical abnormality in diabetic kidney disease. High glucose (HG) concentrations are associated with the induction of oxidative stress in podocytes, leading to disruption of the glomerular filtration barrier. Our recent study revealed a significant decrease in the membrane-bound fraction of Klotho in podocytes that were cultured under HG conditions.

represents one of the main risks for food safety worldwide. Two enzyme-based antimicrobials (enzybiotics) have been combined in a novel treatment against this pathogenic bacterium, resulting in a powerful synergistic effect. One of the enzymes is an endolysin from phage vB_LmoS_188 with amidase activity (henceforth A10), and the other is an engineered version of glucose oxidase from (GOX).

Glucose oxidase (GOD) is an oxygen-consuming dehydrogenase that can catalyze the production of gluconic acid hydrogen peroxide from glucose, and its specific mechanism of action makes it promising for applications, while the low catalytic activity and poor thermostability have become the main factors limiting the industrial application of this enzyme. In this study, we used the glucose oxidase GOD reported with the best thermostability as the source sequence for phylogenetic analysis to obtain the GOD with excellent performance. Six genes were screened and successfully synthesized for functional validation.

To investigate the effects of artificial light at night on the growth of mandibles in mice and its regulatory mechanisms. A mouse model of artificial light at night (night light pollution group) and normal lighting (normal light group) was established by controlling light exposure time, with 4 mice in each group. Micro-CT was employed to analyze the differences in bone quantities of the mandibles between the two groups.
