A popliteal artery injury in a 12-year-old female patient, injured in the war conflict in Ukraine, proved to be serious, requiring surgical treatment, despite seemingly poor symptoms and the absence of subjective difficulties. The presentation of arterial injury without acute limb ischemia was atypical. The clinical picture of the lower limb in the sense of "pulseless pink" based on an arterial lesion is not common, but its underestimation can have permanent consequences for the patient.

Background: Combat-related injuries have evolved in urban warfare because of close-contact engagements and high-energy blast injuries, with rapid medical evacuation improving survival rates. This study analyzes injury patterns and outcomes in the Gaza conflict, emphasizing the need to optimize trauma care protocols in modern combat environments, particularly because of the unique proximity of conflict zones to tertiary trauma centers.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at a single center involving 189 patients evacuated by helicopter to a Level I tertiary trauma center.

In Germany, blast and gunshot injuries are uncommon but complex injury entities. Due to the global political situation, terrorist attacks, accidents, or acts of violence, these injuries are potentially part of the reality of care for every anaesthetist, surgeon, and emergency physician. In principle, this type of injury should be treated in a trauma centre with appropriate expertise, but the knowledge of basic treatment principles is necessary for all practitioners.
