From 1991 to 2003, 20 patients with pasteurellosis were admitted to our unit, of whom 2 died. They presented with cellulitis (n = 14), arthritis (n = 6), pneumonia (n = 3), subcutaneous abscess (n = 3), bursitis (n = 2), meningitis, otitis, sinusitis and uveitis. Underlying diseases included diabetes (n = 6) and malignancy (n = 5). Diabetes could be a predisposing condition for pasteurellosis.

is a facultative anaerobic Gram-negative coccobacillus that represents a rare cause of systemic infection in immunocompromised patients. This report presents the case of a 59-year-old man with advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the oesophagus, recently undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy, halted due to cytopenias, including neutropenia. The patient, who owned a cat but denied any recent bites or scratches, developed bacteremia caused by with presumed pulmonary and renal foci.

This article reports a case of systemic infection caused by Pasteurella multocida. The infection was confirmed in a 79-year-old man who was admitted to the hospital after falling from a couch. The disease was manifested by the development of fever, chills, joint pain.

An 81-year-old male patient in Germany had prosthetic valve endocarditis caused by Pasteurella dagmatis after a domestic cat bite. We surgically treated a paravalvular abscess and administered definitive antibiotic therapy consisting of penicillin G and levofloxacin. The patient was discharged from the intensive care unit in good condition 21 days after the surgery.
