We report on a patient affected by Parkinson's disease who developed over a period of a few weeks a tonic deviation of her head, neck, and trunk fitting the typical description of Pisa syndrome (PS). This patient was under stable levodopa and pramipexole treatment and had never been exposed to any psychotropic or antiemetic drugs before or at the time she developed the postural abnormality. Because dopamine transporter imaging revealed bilateral and symmetrical reduction of striatal uptake, we suggest that PS is not primarily related to side differences in dopaminergic denervation or drug exposure.

Euglycemic Diabetic ketoacidosis (E-DKA) is a life-threatening emergency characterized by ketonemia and metabolic acidosis in presence of relatively normal glycemic values. In recent years it has been associated with some predisposing conditions including sodium-glucose transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2-i) therapy, widely used in high-risk cardiovascular patients. We report the case of a 78-year-old diabetic woman treated with dapagliflozin, affected by critical limb threatening ischemia and septic osteoarthritis of interphalangeal joint of first right toe.

Background: Dysphagia is an important feature of neurodegenerative diseases and potentially life-threatening in primary progressive aphasia (PPA), but remains poorly characterised in these syndromes. We hypothesised that dysphagia would be more prevalent in nonfluent/agrammatic variant (nfv)PPA than other PPA syndromes, predicted by accompanying motor features and associated with atrophy affecting regions implicated in swallowing control.
Methods: In a retrospective case-control study at our tertiary referral centre, we recruited 56 patients with PPA (21 nfvPPA, 22 semantic variant (sv)PPA, 13 logopenic variant (lv)PPA).

Background/objectives: Like in the general population, the prevalences of eating- and weight-related health issues in the armed forces are increasing. Relevant medical conditions include the eating disorders (EDs) anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), as well as body dysmorphic disorder, muscle dysmorphia, and the relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) syndrome.
Methods: We performed a narrative literature review on eating- and weight-related disorders in the armed forces.
