Aims: Prevalence of mitral regurgitation (MR) and comorbidity burden rise with age. Mitral valve transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER) is increasingly performed in elderly patients, but only limited data are available for this specific subgroup. In this study, outcomes of octogenarians and nonagenarians undergoing M-TEER were analysed using a large real-world dataset.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a major global health concern and a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Early-diagnosis and prompt medical attention are crucial in managing and reducing overall impact on health-and-wellbeing, necessitating the development of innovative diagnostics, which transcend traditional methodologies. Raman spectroscopy uniquely provides molecular fingerprinting and structural information, offering insights into biochemical composition.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent cardiac arrhythmia associated with increased morbidity and mortality, highlighting the need for novel therapeutic strategies. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) on cardiac structural remodeling in a rabbit model of AF.

Methods: Rabbits were subjected to rapid pacing to induce an AF model, and BNP was delivered subcutaneously at a dose of 20 μg/kg/d twice per day for three weeks.

Background Breast cancer (BC) affects many women, and with the prevalence of anthracyclines (AC) used in treatment, cardiotoxicity is a commonly encountered problem. Objective The aim is to early detect subclinical cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD) using noninvasive imaging techniques and cardiac biomarkers. Methods Eighty-eight patients with cancer who planned to receive AC or trastuzumab (TZB) were enrolled.

Unlabelled: Very-low-birth-weight infants (VLBW, < 1500 g) are at risk of developing bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and are at risk for BPD-related pulmonary hypertension (PH). The longitudinal measurement of innovative blood and echocardiographic biomarkers might allow for a risk stratification of these infants. A prospective single-center cohort study was conducted between 01/2021 and 06/2023.
