A case of pemphigus triggered by glibenclamide and cilazapril is described. The suspicion of drug induction was confirmed in a laboratory study in which a pemphigus-like effect was induced by glibenclamide in cultured human skin explants. Withdrawal of the drugs and their replacement by hydrochlorothiazide and metformin resulted in subsidence of the lesions and no appearance of new lesions. The laboratory study carried out to verify the suspicion of drug induced pemphigus and to confirm the diagnosis proved useful in the differential diagnosis in this case.

A representative surfactant, benzalkonium chloride (BAC) is used as a disinfectant, but sometimes causes serious side effects, including lung disorders such as interstitial pneumonia. However, its pathogenic mechanisms remain unexplained. In this study, we identified a novel mechanism by which BAC initiates inflammatory responses that may be responsible for its side effects.

Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) are a group of systemic autoimmune diseases characterized by muscle weakness and elevated serum creatine kinase levels. Recent research has highlighted the role of the innate immune system, particularly inflammasomes, in the pathogenesis of IIM. This review focuses on the role of inflammasomes, specifically NLRP3 and AIM2, and their associated proteins in the development of IIM.

Human experimental studies have shown that levcromakalim, an ATP-sensitive potassium (K ATP ) channel opener, induces migraine attacks in people with migraine but not in healthy volunteers. However, the exact site of action for K ATP channels in migraine pathophysiology remains unclear. This study investigates the role of these channels in the meninges in eliciting behavioral hypersensitivity responses in mice.

Background: Hyperoxia-induced injury is a well-recognized cause of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Existing research studies have not well elucidated the exact mechanisms underlying hyperoxia-induced cellular damage. This study examines the involvement of the P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) in hyperoxia-induced damage to human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (HPMVECs) via the NOD-like receptor family, pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) pathway.
