We present an analysis of how flow oblique to the frequency-encoding direction generates displacement artifacts in MR imaging and show that for flow which has constant velocity between the start of the phase encoding and the center of the echo it is possible to eliminate these artifacts by gradient moment nulling in the phase-encoding direction. However, unlike the standard moment nulling calculations for flow compensating the frequency-encode and slice-selection gradients, the phase-encoding first moment must be nulled specifically with respect to the echo center. Limitations of this method imposed by finite gradient strengths are analyzed. In 3D volume acquisitions with two axes phase encoded it is possible to correct for oblique flow in all directions, and this is demonstrated in images of a human volunteer. Correction for oblique flow displacement artifacts may be particularly useful in quantitative flow and angiographic applications.

Purpose: To examine the acute effects of forehand drive (FD) preconditioning with or without blood-flow restriction (BFR) on subsequent forehand performance and muscle recruitment in tennis.
Methods: On separate visits, 12 well-trained tennis players participated in 4 randomized trials. Each visit included pretests (maximal muscle-activation capacity or FD performance), a preconditioning phase, and posttests after 5 minutes of rest (ie, similar to pretests).
This Letter describes the first, to the best of our knowledge, demonstration of a velocity measurement by nitric oxide ionization induced flow tagging and imaging (NiiFTI) of a high-enthalpy hypersonic flow utilizing naturally formed nitric oxide. The measurements were conducted in the hypervelocity expansion tunnel (HXT) at Texas A&M University in Mach 8.5 and Mach 10 flows near an ogive test article.

Zooplankton in the Barents Sea has been monitored on an annual autumn survey since the late 1980s, using vertical WP-2 and oblique Multiple Opening and Closing Net and Environmental Sensing System (MOCNESS) tows over the water column. Sampling with MOCNESS is used to describe the vertical distribution and more frequent sampling with WP-2 (~3:1) to describe the horizontal distribution. We use here a large cumulative data set of 874 MOCNESS and 2850 WP-2 stations with data on size-fractioned dry-weight biomass to compare the two zooplankton sampling gears.
