There is association between migraine, particularly migraine with aura, and large persistent foramen ovale (PFO) and other right-to-left shunts. Migraine is often improved by closure of a PFO in patients who have a large shunt. Inheritance of migraine is linked to the inheritance of large atrial shunts in some families. The data indicate that in some patients PFOs play a causal role in migraine with aura. These observations may also improve understanding of the etiology of migraine in patients who do not have a shunt.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationship between preoperative cervical intervertebral foramen width and area and the persistence of postoperative pain in patients diagnosed with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR).
Methods: Patients were divided into two groups, based on their pain relief at the 6-month postoperative follow-up: the pain relief group and the persistent pain group. Background: Revision surgery for patients with persistent, recurrent, or progressive syringomyelia following foramen magnum decompression (FMD) for Chiari malformation I-syringomyelia (CM-SM) is not uncommon and presents both strategic and technical challenges.

Background: Newborns with transposition of the great arteries (TGA) are at risk of severe hypoxia from inadequate atrial mixing, closure of the arterial duct and/or pulmonary hypertension (PPHN). Acute maternal hyperoxygenation (AMH) might assist in identifying at-risk fetuses. Patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure using percutaneous devices, such as the Amplatzer occluder, is a common treatment for patients with a history of cryptogenic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). Although generally well-tolerated, some patients may develop adverse reactions to the device materials, particularly in the presence of a nickel allergy. Symptoms can include chest pain, rashes, and migraines, which may necessitate surgical removal of the device.
