Abdominal percutaneous needle biopsies are commonly performed minimally invasive procedures to obtain tissue samples for histopathological diagnosis. Severe post-biopsy bleeding is uncommon but can be associated with prolonged hospitalization, additional interventions, morbidity, and death. Many factors may increase bleeding risk and various peri-procedural and intra-procedural strategies may minimize bleeding risk.

Background And Aim: Tongue base reduction surgery is the only minimally invasive technique that can be performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, especially to treat obstructive sleep apnea caused by hypopharyngeal obstruction. Studies reported that various devices could be used for tongue base reduction, but comparisons of these methods are limited in the literature. Our study aimed to compare the histological effects of tongue base reduction methods performed with the Celon radiofrequency, monopolar cautery, Coblator, and Sutter devices on the tissue.

Background And Objectives: Stereo-EEG-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RFTHC) has been proposed as relatively safe from a cognitive perspective; however, there is a lack of evidence based on neuropsychological assessments supporting this. This study is the first prospective evaluation of neuropsychological outcomes associated with stereo-EEG-guided RFTHC in patients with focal drug-resistant epilepsy.
Methods: This cohort study involved prospective recruitment of consecutive patients undergoing stereo-EEG from 2 Australian centers.

Objective: Stereoelectroencephalography-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation (SEEG-guided RF-TC) is an invasive procedure based on stereotactic lesioning of cortical targets in the brain using bipolar current through electrode contacts within the SEEG implant. To date, several RF-TC protocols have been described in the literature; however, a consensus has yet to be reached. This work aims to analyze the electrical parameters during RF-TC processes, offering a method to objectively describe and compare different SEEG-guided RF-TC protocols.
