To treat hemodynamic disorders, preductal was used in combination with antibacterial therapy in 30 patients with disseminated destructive pulmonary tuberculosis for a month. A control group comprising 31 patients was in parallel observed. Clinical, electrocardiographic, and echocardiographic studies were performed to evaluate the efficacy of preductal. The drug was found to promote improvements in left ventricular function and central hemodynamics as a decrease in end-systolic volume and increases in ejection fraction and stroke and minute volumes. Preductal exerted no significant effect on right ventricular dysfunction associated with chronic cor pulmonale.

Background: Newborns with transposition of the great arteries (TGA) are at risk of severe hypoxia from inadequate atrial mixing, closure of the arterial duct and/or pulmonary hypertension (PPHN). Acute maternal hyperoxygenation (AMH) might assist in identifying at-risk fetuses. We report pulmonary vasoreactivity to AMH in TGA fetuses and its relationship to early postnatal hypoxia and requirement for emergency balloon atrial septostomy (e-BAS).

Introduction: Transposition of the great arteries (TGA), especially with intact ventricular septum (TGA-IVS), presents unique challenges during fetal-to-neonatal transition, which can contribute to developing persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN).
Case Presentation: A male newborn with TGA-IVS, delivered via caesarean section, presented with hypoxemia and tachycardia immediately after birth (preductal SpO: 50-60%, post-ductal SpO: 70-75%). Echocardiography revealed a floppy interatrial septum and two interatrial connections with bidirectional shunting.

Objectives: To determine oxygen saturation (SpO) values and their variability in healthy-term neonates at high altitude.
Methods: In a prospective multisite, non-randomized blinded study, we performed SpO measurements in healthy neonates admitted to postnatal wards and followed up in Public Health Nurse Clinics (PHNC) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We recruited healthy-term neonates (≥37 weeks) between 6 and 24 h of age.

Introduction: Moderate and late preterm (MLPT) infants represent a substantial percentage of all preterm infants and frequently need support in the delivery room. Deferred cord clamping (DCC) improves SpO2 and heart rate (HR) stabilization in term infants. However, data on MLPT infants are limited.

Asphyxiated neonates must have oxygenation rapidly restored to limit ongoing hypoxic-ischemic injury. However, the effects of transient hyperoxia after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) are poorly understood. We randomly allocated acutely asphyxiated, near-term lambs to cardiopulmonary resuscitation in 100% oxygen ("standard oxygen", n = 8) or air (n = 7) until 5 minutes after ROSC, or to resuscitation in 100% oxygen immediately weaned to air upon ROSC ("rapid-wean", n = 7).
