In order to investigate the potential of human ERMAP gene in erythroid cell differentiation, K562 cells were induced to erythroid lineage by Ara-C and to macrophage lineage by TPA, human ERMAP mRNA was detected by fluorescent quantitative PCR. The results showed that human ERMAP mRNA increased while K562 cells were induced to erythroid lineage after treatment with Ara-C at 2.5 x 10(-6) mmol/L/L and 1.0 x 10(-6) mmol/L/L. Human ERMAP mRNA not changed while K562 cells were induced to macrophage lineage after treatment with TPA at 2.0 x 10(-6) mmol/L/L and 1.0 x 10(-6) mmol/L/L. It is concluded that human ERMAP gene plays an important role in differentiation and proliferation of erythroid cells.

Background: Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors exert a distinctive pattern of direct biological effects on the heart and kidney under experimental conditions, but the meaningfulness of these signatures for patients with heart failure has not been fully defined.
Objectives: We performed the first mechanistic validation study of large-scale proteomics in a double-blind randomized trial of any treatment in patients with heart failure.
Methods: In a discovery cohort from the EMPEROR (Empagliflozin Outcome Trial in Patients With Chronic Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction) program, we studied the effect of randomized treatment with placebo or empagliflozin on 1,283 circulating proteins in 1,134 patients with heart failure with a reduced or preserved ejection fraction.

The emerging malaria parasite Plasmodium knowlesi threatens the goal of worldwide malaria elimination due to its zoonotic spread in Southeast Asia. After brief ex-vivo culture we used 2D LC/MS/MS to examine the early and late ring stages of infected Macaca mulatta red blood cells harboring P. knowlesi.

Kupffer cells, the liver tissue resident macrophages, are critical in the detection and clearance of cancer cells. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying their detection and phagocytosis of cancer cells are still unclear. Using in vivo genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 knockout screening, we found that the cell-surface transmembrane protein ERMAP expressed on various cancer cells signaled to activate phagocytosis in Kupffer cells and to control of liver metastasis.

Background: Scianna (Sc) antigens, seven high and two of low prevalence, are expressed on erythrocyte membrane-associated protein (ERMAP). We investigated SC (ERMAP) in individuals who made antibodies to high prevalence Scianna antigens, and propose a 3D model for ERMAP to precisely localize the residues associated with the known antigens.
Methods: Serological testing and DNA sequencing was performed by standard methods.
