Modified Infrabrow Blepharoplasty for Periorbital Rejuvenation in Asia Women.

J Craniofac Surg

December 2024

Department of Plastic Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou.

Objective: The infrabrow blepharoplasty is a common surgical operation indicated in Asians for periorbital rejuvenation. This operation alone is difficult to achieve the correction of crow's feet. Therefore, the authors elucidate the authors' experiences of applying infrabrow blepharoplasty combined with the subcutaneous undermining of the lateral periorbital region to treat upper eyelid dermatochalasis with lateral hooding deformity and alleviate crow's feet, including its indications, operative procedures, and postoperative outcomes.

The authors report a case of nontraumatic orbital subperiosteal hematoma after general anesthesia with patient in the prone position. The patient, who was on aspirin, clopidogrel, and subcutaneous heparin, presented immediately after sacral ulcer debridement with acute bilateral vision loss and periorbital edema. While the OD improved with conservative management, the OS continued to have 20/200 vision, decreased color vision, afferent pupillary defect, and extraocular movement limitation after lateral canthotomy and cantholysis.

Behavioral modulations can alter the visual tuning of neurons in the mouse thalamocortical pathway.

Cell Rep

December 2024

Neuro-Electronics Research Flanders, 3000 Leuven, Belgium; Department of Biology & Leuven Brain Institute, KU Leuven, 3000 Leuven, Belgium; VIB, 3000 Leuven, Belgium. Electronic address:

Behavioral influences shape processing in the retina and the dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus (dLGN), although their precise effects on visual tuning remain debated. Using 2-photon functional Ca imaging, we characterize the dynamics of dLGN axon activity in the primary visual cortex of awake behaving mice, examining the effects of visual stimulation, pupil size, stillness, locomotion, and anesthesia. In awake recordings, nasal visual motion triggers pupil dilation and, occasionally, locomotion, increasing responsiveness and leading to an overrepresentation of boutons tuned to nasal motion.

Spontaneous ependymoma in a free-ranging juvenile black-horned capuchin (Sapajus nigritus).

J Comp Pathol

November 2024

Veterinary Pathology Laboratory, Department of Veterinary Sciences, Federal University of Paraná, Palotina, Paraná, Brazil.

A young free-ranging black-horned capuchin (Sapajus nigritus) with a history of ataxia, anisocoria, diminished threat and pupil reflexes and increased cranial circumference was referred for evaluation to the Medicine and Wildlife Conservation Section, Federal University of Paraná, Paraná, Brazil. Due to the clinical presentation and radiographic findings of hydrocephalus, euthanasia was performed. Necropsy revealed a dark red mass (1.

Survival in dynamic environments requires that organisms learn to predict danger from situational cues. One key facet of threat prediction is generalization from a predictive cue to similar cues, ensuring that a cue-outcome contingency is applied beyond the original learning environment. Generalization has been observed in laboratory studies of aversive conditioning: Behavioral and physiological processes generalize responses from a stimulus paired with threat (the conditioned stimulus [CS+]) to unpaired stimuli, with response magnitudes varying with CS+ similarity.
