The present work focuses on the production of sildenafil co-evaporates loaded emulgels as topical dosage forms for the treatment of premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. Topical administration of sildenafil citrate (SILD) co-evaporates is expected to improve the bioavailability profile of the drug and to avoid the severe side effects accompanying the traditional SILD dosage forms, especially for prohibited cardiovascular cases. Firstly, the solubility of SILD was improved via solid dispersion via co-evaporation technique using PEG-5KDa and PVP-K90 as hydrophilic carriers.

Phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5is), primarily used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, have been severely misused in recent years, posing a threat to public health and safety. This study developed a method that combines Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) with machine learning algorithms to rapidly identify different PDE5is types. A total of 948 SERS spectra from 79 PDE5is were collected using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as the enhancement agent, and dimensionality reduction was performed through principal component analysis (PCA).

Introduction Optimal use of the workforce in primary care is critical due to increasing complexity and demand resulting from multi-morbidity in ageing populations. Improving public access to medicines by making them available via a pharmacist without prescription can support self-care while ensuring oversight by a health professional. Aim The aim of this paper was to identify and explore key differences between New Zealand and Australia in medicines classified nationally for pharmacist-only non-prescription supply.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a multifactorial social problem affecting men worldwide. While phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5) like sildenafil are commonly used, they often present side effects, underscoring the need for alternative therapies. Therefore, this study investigated the potential of phytochemicals from in the management of ED.

Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) is a homodimeric enzyme that specifically targets cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), that mediates many downstream effects such as vasodilation, neurotransmission, and calcium homeostasis. Considering the functions of cGMP, inhibition of PDE5 has been established to have several therapeutic effects in disease conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases and Alzheimer's disease. Consequently, many PDE5 inhibitors were developed but with severe adverse effects such as non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), priapism, etc.
