Plant thioredoxins (TRXs) are involved in numerous metabolic and signalling pathways, such as light-dependent regulation of photosynthesis. The atypical TRX CDSP32, chloroplastic drought-induced stress protein of 32 kDa, includes two TRX-fold domains and participates in responses to oxidative stress as an electron donor to other thiol reductases. Here, we further characterised potato lines modified for CDSP32 expression to clarify the physiological roles of the TRX.

In the chloroplast, the 54 kDa subunit of the signal recognition particle (cpSRP54) is involved in the post-translational transport of the light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b-binding proteins (LHCPs) and the co-translational transport of plastid-encoded subunits of the photosynthetic complexes to the thylakoid membrane. It forms a high-affinity complex with plastid-specific cpSRP43 for post-translational transport, while a ribosome-associated pool coordinates its co-translational function. CpSRP54 constitutes a conserved multidomain protein, comprising a GTPase (NG) and a methionine-rich (M) domain linked by a flexible region.

Clubroot disease, which is caused by the obligate biotrophic protist , leads to the formation of galls, commonly known as pathogen-induced tumors, on the roots of infected plants. The identification of crucial regulators of host tumor formation is essential to unravel the mechanisms underlying the proliferation and differentiation of within plant cells. To gain insight into this process, transcriptomic analysis was conducted to identify key genes associated with both primary and secondary infection of in Chinese cabbage.

Photosystem I (PSI) forms a large macromolecular complex of ∼580 kDa that resides in the thylakoid membrane and mediates photosynthetic electron transfer. PSI is composed of 18 protein subunits and nearly 200 co-factors. The assembly of the complex in thylakoid membranes requires high spatial and temporal coordination, and is critically dependent on a sophisticated assembly machinery.
