Optically active aminonaphthols derivatives are obtained by condensation of 2-naphthol, substituted benzaldehyde, and (S)-methylbenzylamine under mild conditions, without side products. Their absolute configurations are determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The addition of diethylzinc to aromatic aldehydes is considerably accelerated by the presence of a catalytic amount of crystalline to give, after hydrolysis, the corresponding 1-phenylpropanol in good enantiomeric purity, as determined by CD-HPLC analysis as HTPS (high-throughput screening).

A series of novel thio-derivatives of d-glucosamine has been synthesized using double inversion procedures at the C3 atom. New compounds were applied as ligands for the diethylzinc addition to benzaldehyde and the products of the addition were obtained with a low to good enantiomeric ratio. The direction and the level of the asymmetric induction were highly dependent on the type of protecting groups on the nitrogen and sulfur atoms.

A library of regioisomeric monoterpene-based aminodiols was synthesised and applied as chiral catalysts in the addition of diethylzinc to benzaldehyde. The synthesis of the first type of aminodiols was achieved starting from (-)-8,9-dihydroperillaldehyde via reductive amination, followed by Boc protection and dihydroxylation with the OsO/NMO system. Separation of formed stereoisomers resulted in a library of aminodiol diastereoisomers.

Conjugated polymer-based organic/inorganic hybrid materials become the current research frontier and show great potential to integrate flexible polymers and rigid solid materials, which have been widely used in the field of various flexible electronics and optical devices. In this study, based on the multiple vapor phase infiltration (VPI) process, various precursor molecules (diethylzinc DEZ, trimethylaluminum TMA, HO) are applied for themodification of PBTTT-C14 films. The conductivity of the PBTTT-C14/AlO:ZnO (AZO) film is significantly enhanced, and the maximum value of conductivity is 1.

Polysubstituted furans were synthesized in one-pot through the EtZn-mediated coupling reaction between dibromoketones and monobromo carbonyl compounds and the subsequent β-elimination with bromoacetyl bromide. Polysubstituted pyrroles were also prepared in one-pot by addition of primary amines after the coupling reaction.

Article Synopsis
  • Area-selective atomic layer deposition (AS-ALD) is a nanofabrication technique that deposits single atoms but has limitations such as the need for pre-patterned substrates and selectivity issues.
  • Direct patterning with atomic-layer additive manufacturing (ALAM) improves upon AS-ALD by using 3D-printing principles to allow better control of material deposition with less precursor consumption.
  • The study compares the growth characteristics of ALAM and traditional ALD, showing that ALAM can produce high-quality zinc oxide (ZnO) films at specific temperatures, ultimately leading to the successful creation of a thin-film transistor.
