A 66-year-old man with a history of tobacco and alcohol consumption was diagnosed with a severe peptic esophagitis. After treatment, an endoscopy showed the resolution of esophagitis, but revealed white multinodular plaques with a diffuse distribution. Histology showed esophageal mucosa with a prominent granular layer and hyperorthokeratotis, in keeping with epidermoid metaplasia.

Better understanding of mast cell tumors (MCTs) in miniature pigs is needed to guide diagnosis and establish clinical significance. We characterized the gross pathology, histopathology, histochemical staining, and KIT immunoreactivity of cutaneous MCTs in a retrospective descriptive study of 11 miniature pigs (). Tumors were single or multiple papules, small nodules, or plaques.

A 90-year-old man presented for evaluation of an incompletely excised squamous cell carcinoma above the right brow, with pathology demonstrating tumor extending to resection margins with perineural invasion. A cord of tumor was noted to extend past the orbital rim and towards the posterior orbit. Mohs excision versus coordinated resection and reconstruction with colleagues in the head and neck surgery and craniofacial plastic surgery departments were considered.
