To ease the interpretation of higher order factor analysis, the direct relationships between variables and higher order factors may be calculated by the Schmid-Leiman solution (SLS; Schmid & Leiman, 1957). This simple transformation of higher order factor analysis orthogonalizes first-order and higher order factors and thereby allows the interpretation of the relative impact of factor levels on variables. The Schmid-Leiman solution may also be used to facilitate theorizing and scale development. The rationale for the procedure is presented, supplemented by syntax codes for SPSS and SAS, since the transformation is not part of most statistical programs. Syntax codes may also be downloaded from www.psychonomic.org/archive/.

Background: Lab users should display an understanding of microbiology tests and avoid inappropriate requests which may yield negative clinical consequences. Our research addressed diagnostic stewardship education and the perspectives of paediatric hospital doctors on their (1) self-perceived knowledge, (2) motivators for test ordering, (3) proposed educational interventions and (4) preferred teaching modalities.

Methods: An anonymous, mixed-methods, 34-item online questionnaire was distributed to paediatric doctors across three Irish hospital sites from March to May 2023.

Aim: To compare the histological structure of biopsies from the anterior and posterior regions of the human palate in order to gain insights into potential differences of soft tissue harvesting sites.

Methods: This comparative study involved 20 participants, from each of whom four samples from the palatal mucosa were collected. The biopsies were histologically processed and subsequently analysed.

Oriented 2D metal-organic framework (MOF) membranes hold considerable promise for industrial separation processes. Nevertheless, the lattice misalignment caused by the twisted stacking of 2D nanosheets reduces the in-plane pore size and exerts a significant impact on the membrane separation performance. Precisely regulating the stacking pattern of oriented 2D MOF membranes remains a significant challenge.

Functional brain fingerprinting has emerged as an influential tool to quantify reliability in neuroimaging studies and to identify cognitive biomarkers in both healthy and clinical populations. Recent studies have revealed that brain fingerprints reside in the timescale-specific functional connectivity of particular brain regions. However, the impact of the acquisition's temporal resolution on fingerprinting remains unclear.

Objective: Genetic dystonia is a complex movement disorder with diverse clinical manifestations resulting from pathogenic mutations in associated genes. A recent paradigm shift emphasizes the functional convergence among dystonia genes, hinting at a shared pathomechanism. However, the neural dynamics supporting this convergence remain largely unexplored.
