Given a black box for f, a smooth real scalar function of d real variables, one wants to estimate [symbol: see text]f at a given point with n bits of precision. On a classical computer this requires a minimum of d + 1 black box queries, whereas on a quantum computer it requires only one query regardless of d. The number of bits of precision to which f must be evaluated matches the classical requirement in the limit of large n.

Background: Beige adipocytes have physiological functions similar to brown adipocytes, which are available to increase energy expenditure through uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) within mitochondria. Recently, many studies showed white adipocytes can undergo remodeling into beige adipocytes, called "browning", by increasing fusion and fission events referred to as mitochondrial dynamics.

Purpose: In this study, we aimed to investigate the browning effects of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (4-HA), one of the major compounds of black raspberries.

A catalytic system has been developed, utilizing metal nanoparticles confined within a chitosan‑carbon black composite hydrogel (M-CH/CB), aimed at improving ease of use and recovery in catalytic processes. The M-CH/CBs were characterized by XRD, SEM, and EDX, the M-CH/CB system demonstrated exceptional catalytic activity in producing hydrogen gas (H) from water and methanol, and in reducing several hazardous materials including 2-nitrophenol (2-NP), 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), 2,6-dinitrophenol (2,6-DNP), acridine orange (ArO), methyl orange (MO), congo red (CR), methylene blue (MB), and potassium ferricyanide (PFC). Among the tested nanocatalysts, CH/CB showed the highest efficiency for H₂ production, while Fe-CH/CB excelled in contaminant reduction (7.

Advanced Brain Tumor Classification in MR Images Using Transfer Learning and Pre-Trained Deep CNN Models.

Cancers (Basel)

January 2025

Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, 2815 Gjøvik, Norway.

Background/objectives: Brain tumor classification is a crucial task in medical diagnostics, as early and accurate detection can significantly improve patient outcomes. This study investigates the effectiveness of pre-trained deep learning models in classifying brain MRI images into four categories: Glioma, Meningioma, Pituitary, and No Tumor, aiming to enhance the diagnostic process through automation.

Methods: A publicly available Brain Tumor MRI dataset containing 7023 images was used in this research.

Members of the B-Box (BBX) family of proteins play crucial roles in the growth and development of rice. Here, we identified a rice BBX protein, Oryza sativa BBX2 (OsBBX2), which exhibits the highest expression in the root. The transcription of follows a diurnal rhythm under photoperiodic conditions, peaking at dawn.
