We carry out the first quantum dynamics calculations on ultracold atom-diatom collisions in isotopic mixtures. The systems studied are spin-polarized 7Li + 6Li7Li, 7Li + 6Li2, 6Li + 6Li7Li, and 6Li + 7Li2. Reactive scattering can occur for the first two systems even when the molecules are in their ground rovibrational states, but is slower than vibrational relaxation in homonuclear systems. Implications for sympathetic cooling of heteronuclear molecules are discussed.

We propose boson sampling from a system of coupled photons and Bose-Einstein condensed atoms placed inside a multi-mode cavity as a simulation process testing the quantum advantage of quantum systems over classical computers. Consider a two-level atomic transition far-detuned from photon frequency. An atom-photon scattering and interatomic collisions provide interactions that create quasiparticles and excite atoms and photons into squeezed entangled states, orthogonal to the atomic condensate and classical field driving the two-level transition, respectively.

Three-body recombination reactions, in which two particles form a bound state while a third one bounces off after the collision, play significant roles in many fields, such as cold and ultracold chemistry, astrochemistry, atmospheric physics, and plasma physics. In this work, the dynamics of the recombination reaction for the N system over a wide temperature range (5000-20,000 K) are investigated in detail using the quasi-classical trajectory (QCT) method based on recently developed full-dimensional potential energy surfaces. The recombination products are N() + N() in the 1″ state, N() + N() in the 2″ state, and N() + N() in both the 1″ and 2″ states.

While the growing realization of the importance of long-range interactions is being demonstrated in cold and ultracold bimolecular collision experiments, their influence on one of the most critical ion-neutral reactions has been overlooked. Here, we address the non-Langevin abrupt decrease observed earlier in the low-energy integral cross-sections and rate coefficients of the astrochemically important H + HeH+→ H2+ + He reaction. We attribute this to the presence of artificial barriers on existing potential energy surfaces (PESs).

Inelastic n-changing collisions play an important role in the evolution of Rydberg atoms into ultracold plasmas. However, for the initially intermediate n (n ∼ 40) Rydberg states, these collisions can hardly be observed due to the low electron temperature in ultracold plasmas. In this work, we designed an experimental scheme to facilitate collisions between free electrons at 1.

The generation of cold molecules is an important topic in the field of cold atoms and molecules and has received relevant advanced research attention in ultracold chemistry, quantum computation, and quantum metrology. With a high atomic phase space density, optical dipole traps have been widely used to prepare, trap, and study cold molecules. In this work, Rb2 molecules were photoassociated in a magneto-optical trap to obtain a precise rovibrational spectrum, which provided accurate numerical references for the realization of multiple frequency photoassociation.
